What is your opinion on the belief that girls mature faster than boys?

I always hear this, but I feel like it's based on stereotypes and outliers.

I feel like the average boy and average girl are similar in maturity, they just express themselves differently.

Depends on what you mean by mature, op. Mature meaning understanding the dynamics of the genders and manipulation, yeah. Meaning owning up to things and being responsible, it's about the same leaning more to men though.

It's due to brain development, however people use it for pedophilia

This isn’t a new era thing nor about single moms. In fact, the emotional maturity of men was worse in the past, it’s gotten better as younger generations realize the folly of always telling boys to “suck it up” and “shake it off”
being emotional =/= emotional maturity
average male is far more capable of managing conflict and regulating emotions because of the bold

No, they’re not. Walking away from conflict doesn’t make it managed, being able to address conflict is emotional maturity. Many men cannot or will not address conflict

Imo that's some old school nonsense, man. It ain't about boys or girls "maturing" faster. It's about individuals plain and simple. Every person's got their own pace, their own journey. Trying to put a gender on maturity is just a lazy way to explain away differences in behavior.
It was an excuse to entice young girls to being fast and acting grown. Later on in life when those same chicks talk about all the dirt they did coming up they always justify it with but I was young and naive.

Opinion?

Just because you disagree with something doesn’t mean it isn’t rooted in science.

Physically yes
Emotionally/mentally no
Most women don’t ever really mature
Mentally- Same with men it’s just a man who’s mentally unstable ain’t going places.

it's true physically and maybe in terms of emotions. however it is not very true when it comes to wisdom or cognitive function. society often wants to finesse little girls out of sex or free labor, so it will use whatever narrative it needs.

dudes used to marry little girls. also, people wanted girls to do more domestic chores which are never ending while boys were wanted for work outside the home which has set hours and off-time that allow for play.

the exploitation switches when boys start reaching a state of physical maturity that makes them more useful. when you can start doing heavy lifting or learn how to stab another man with a bayonet, society starts finding narratives to better exploit you. this is around 16-18 years old.

For most of history most girls had to take on domestic roles earlier than most boys, think learning to cook, clean, managing the other kids, preparing for marriage at a young age, while boys generally were prepped in a specific subject with excersice usually to manaual labor, politics, or some kind of warrior/enforcement role but in general those kind of things the boys wouldn't be able to do until they were adults/able bodied teenager age vs the girls being able to do their tasks more immediately. So I'd imagine that's where the preconception came from.
