If I believe in only the old testament I'm not a Christian...what makes me a Christian is the belief in both Old and new .

I don't have a problem with people believing in God but organized religion has to go and is an absurd concept in of itself. Just look at the folks who start religious cults today. There is a guy down in Florida who claims to be Jesus the son of God. You call him crazy but 2000 years ago people were more gullible.
Science books teach you how the world really works, I wish that was the religion of the masses, we'd be much better off as a species.
As for morality, the bible conflicts itself on numerous occasions (stone an adulterer, "thou shalt not kill"). Morality is an inherent trait to Humans unless the brain is damaged in some way. It helps us work together to increase survival.

Saying its part of "God Plan" is kind of a cliche of people who grew up in the church and how they are raised. It's basically the religous version of saying "Everything happens for a reason"
If him believing that his injury is part of "God plan" gives him the inspiration to work hard to get back right and to make a full recovery. I just don't see whats wrong with that especially if thats what HE believes.
According to the Bible the only way to heaven is through Jesus...so that will be a true statement.
