The thing is the European cars are built to spec so you need to be proactive about maitenance and repairs. Most dealers let you buy them when you purchase the car and there a few 3rd party companies you can get that cover your car beyond that.

I can't count how many friends and relatives try to dump their European cars once they start getting 2k and 3k repair bills.

Yes they are it’s not a myth but you’ll have an exception to every rule.

German cars pride themselves on driver experience over reliability, it’s why majority of them are leased and and returned before 60k

Had my 2011 328i since 2010 and with regularly scheduled maintenance I've never had many problems. I'm having them now though, and about to send it to the graveyard and get a brand new one next yr. Probably another 328i too it'll be my 3rd one since 07

IDK if its a universal hood thing or not; but at least up here all the hoods got yardi mechanics who "specialize" in BMWs....these MFers will drive 60k miles n never change the oil not 1 time

its disrespectful to a legacy brand TBH. Same thing with Lexus to a degree and Mercedes for sure.

Yeah...I end up seeing a lot of those cars and telling people the bad news about it not worth being fixing. There was a 7 series at AutoZone today buying a 5 quart jug of oil and the car said it had a low oil light -- oil was basically dumping on the ground as he was pouring it in; breh and his woman drove off and he said it was fine

Real talk, if you don't know how to work on any European car, or go into working on them like you would a Domestic car, you're going to end up screwing up a lot of stuff. Fact of the matter is, a lot of the stuff that goes wrong on Euros is electric stuff; you have to know how to test and diagnose properly on those cars, otherwise you're just guessing.

2016 M4. 55k miles. Only issue I've had is an intermittent CEL that comes and goes every few months.
