I think I’ve come to the conclusion that exclusives don’t matter

Sales aside that console was far better than just "decent". It felt like a generation ahead of the GameCube and ps2 tech wise, and introduced alot of features that are considered the standard now.

It didn't have as many games as ps2, but for a console with a relatively short life cycle, they managed to release a good amount of console exclusives in that time frame, and some of those games were among the best of the generation.
It was a cool console , his point was that it didn't sell well

I agree Xbox and 360 were great consoles. After that they decided to go after something else and it hasn’t been working.

It's funny because I actually want Xbox to do well with their exclusives. I love rpgs and they have some really big IPs over there. They just need to come out in a timely manner and actually be good games.

It's the beginning of the end of the gen. In 2 years that's 5 years. Most console gens are about 7 years. Years 0-2 early gen 3-5 mid gen 5-7 is late gen. It only feels like it's starting this year because covid delays and we're entering mid gen right now.
The mid Gen revisions have actually been making the gens longer. Add in the pandemic to start this time (for game development and console availability), I can’t see this gen ending in 2027. That’s leaving a lot of money on the table from this gen, and we’ve already seen with all the cross-gen (that’s just now starting to slow down) they aren’t throwing a dime away if they can help it.

If I had my guess 2024-5 is P5 Pro and Series X.2. Nintendo might be early again, because they need to be with that outdated ass shyt, but I don’t think Sony/MS will be in a rush. This mf boutta be a decade :russ:

Could be but keep in mind the mid gen refresh only happened last gen because 4k was taking over and both Sony and Microsoft wanted to be able market a console as being "4k ready" to sell them with the new tvs. Updated Cpu and gpu would help with that. Plus the jaguar cores they shipped with were really underpowered and started showing it early on.

PS5 and Series X have not even had their power tapped yet and there's no new TV resolution coming in to disrupt the market either. I agree it'll probably last longer due to the pandemic delays and just how good the hardware itself is this gen. So you may be right.

But still how does playing the long game like this with exclusives help Microsoft? You think they'll make up sales on the back burner like the ps3 did?

You right about the 4k last Gen, but wrong about no new resolutions this time. They’re already pushing 8k :troll:

MS doesn’t really have a choice but to play the long game, since they’re still waiting on games in active development. They could pull a Wii U and just act like this gen never happened, but I don’t think they’ve hit that low yet (I may be wrong idk the Wii U numbers). And they would literally have 0 goodwill left I think. Idk too many MS ppl like that anymore irl, but I know quite a few Nintendo ride or dies.

This gen does feel very similar to the PS3, outside of coming off the PS2. A longer Gen would definitely help them on the backend imo

This man said 8k :mjlol: The TV manufacturers are definitely tryna push new display technologies more so than resolution now. OLED, QD-OLED, Micro LED etc. I be wondering what's next after 8k micro LED tvs

I agree though. Hopefully they show us something from xbox eventually. Healthy competition is good.

I'm just going to keep it a buck. Game Pass killed gaming as a whole. It was so revolutionary, but at the same time it devalued the hell out of Microsoft. How a company going to have a shyt load of publishers under the umbrella, but the streets are eating off of Vampire Survivor as the exclusive :why:

That “monopoly” shyt is an L for everybody. PS2 led to that nasty early PS3. 360 led to the nasty early XB1. Wii led to the tragic Wii U. Even on the PC side NV vs AMD has partly led to the overpriced 4000 series, and all the yrs before AMD had Ryzen, Intel was on some bullshyt.

We gotta keep all these nikkas grounded for our own good :russ:
