It's mid. Once you get the spear, you can cheese the game since the majority of the enemies are proximity bound.. Enemy types are GARBAGE (lol @ the lizard men spin attacks, wtf is that trash. Elf attacks going through doors, etc.)
nikka what? :stopitslime:Horrible take.

Great game. I can see why people who ran through the story could say some bullshyt like this

But if you actually got INTO the game, and explored/completed side quests etc. with the story being secondary, your experience with this game would be much different

The game was a let down for me, not a huge one but it's one of the least memorable GOW and as time goes on I think people will agree.
The story was badly paced and the conclusion was rushed and characters were all over the place personality wise, certain things just weren't enjoyable. The game over all had marvel movie progression and plot point feel that I didn't expect nor like.

Like I said not mid but definitely not the greatness of 2018.

It was way to similar to 2018 in all the "bad" ways and not different enough in the good ways. The best parts of the game imo are the sideline quest and events.

I think they just handled the powers and power scaling kinda whacky and it bothered me for such a narrative based game coming off 2018 which nailed everything.

The story was amazing, combat improved nicely.

Overall a very good game, and a great experience.

However, GOW2018 was GOAT tier stuff, and this didn’t live up to that.

Cross gen held it back, God of War was ALWAYS a visual spectacle, and literally every release has raised the bar visually for the entire industry upon release.

This game was a shiny PS4 game, and proud graphics whore, the experience was tainted by so-so visuals.

Now, this I can agree with. It's part of a larger problem where everything needs to be a mind blowing, borderline life changing experience, otherwise it's shyt. Real talk, "mid" isn't even really supposed to be a synonym for bad anyway, just that it's not the absolute best.
Blame that on the people including posters on this site who hyped the game up and use awards as the barometer of its greatness and not the people who bought into the hype and came out feeling disappointed.

It could've been better in a lot of ways, the endgame is really what saved it for me. It can be drag to play at certain times, especially some of those parts with Atreus.

Last gen held it back

I swear y'all made the same thread for Elden Ring :pachaha:

I thought GoW:R was great. It wasn't the massive innovative pivot that GoW 2018 was for the series, but it wasn't a step back either.

If i had criticism, I'd say there were certain ideas they were going for that could've been grand-slams but instead were 1 base singles. I'm mostly talking about Artreus. The novelty of playing as him wears off quickly bc his move sets and skill trees were mid. And for a character prophesied to be Loki (which felt like a big deal reveal in GoW 2018)... they played it safe with him, and hence he was the least interesting character in the game imo.

Related to that, I thought the story could've had better twists, turns, and swerves in the 3rd act (everything leading up to it was masterful imo) but i felt it was still a good ending.
