According to Slam Wrestling, Sammy Guevara was booked for an angle with Impact Wrestling, but he complained about the creative direction. This caused the entire angle to be pulled.
It was reported that “Impact’s first take on things was rejected but a second idea was given the greenlight by Khan.” Then on the day of the show, Guevara complained and Impact Wrestling had to contact Chris Jericho and Tony Khan about it.
Plans were made to shoot the angle the next day but Impact received a message directly from Guevara complaining about the creative direction. Impact in turn contacted Khan and Jericho with this news. Jericho reached out to Impact Executive Vice-President Don Callis about banning Guevara from Impact’s premises.
It was reported that plans were made to shoot the angle with Impact Wrestling, and then Sammy Guevara complained about the creative direction. When Sammy Guevara showed up in Nashville to tape the segment he received a message from Chris Jericho telling him to go back home.
Now “AEW management is apparently concerned that Guevara’s actions may have possibly hurt their relationship with Impact Wrestling.” We will keep a close eye on this story.
PW Insider has confirmed that Guevara was set to work a short storyline at the Impact Wrestling tapings this past Tuesday through Thursday. This would have played off of Guevara quitting the Inner Circle.
The first issue was the fact that Guevara rescheduled his travel to arrive just before the tapings.
Multiple sources indicate that AEW and Impact worked out the plans but that Guevara did not fly to Nashville the day before the tapings scheduled and rescheduled himself to arrive in Nashville just a few hours before the tapings would begin.
Everyone agreed to the angle, but then Guevara started texting “alternate ideas” and he didn’t want to do what they agreed to. At that point, Impact Wrestling officials nixed Guevara from the tapings.
