America is still ~60% white -- most white people are Republicans and 70% of white men in this country voted for Trump.

'Woke' folks constantly shyt on Jordan for rocking with Democrats AND Republicans, but his embrace of rural-America is exactly why the ratings peaked during his era...he didn't alienate half the country.

The ratings have been down ever since because Iverson looked liked every white-mans nightmare, Kobe was accused of raping a 'small town white girl', and Lebron never misses an opportunity to shyt on Republican politicians.

Half the country doesn't have anyone to cheer for when they turn on an NBA game.

Too many teams and too many games. How many people outside of Cali want to watch the Kings play. Hell most people in Cali don't even want to watch them play.

:dahell:
how many people outside of baltimore want to watch the ravens?

I always got a lot of flak when I say the NBA does a shytty job marketing it's product, even though the numbers back up my point. You can't hype up individual stars over the team, because stars don't last forever while the team will always be there.

Besides regular season basketball outside of a few matchups is fukking boring. Too many shytty ass teams who you know have chance. Too many dynasties, too much of the same old shyt year after year.

:skip:
act like the Patriots hasnt been running the NFL since 2001 brehs

It's not about Seattle moving the needle. It's about Seattle being a steady needle rather than one that moves from side to side depending on star power.
Breh outside of mad Seattleites that shyt doesn’t matter like that :dead:

Exactly. Players move on and retire. Teams don't.

Just trash. Also shows how big a mistake it was for the NBA to leave Seattle. They had a huge team following in that area of the country.

NBA marketing has been trash since 91 when they joined NBC and shifted away from team to player focus.

This is the end result.
I mean, teams can move.

A lot of us non-NBA stans been saying this. Only die-hard NBA fans watch regular season games consistently. Most people aren't interested until the playoffs. NBA just dominates social media, specifically Twitter, which is why it seems like it's more popular than the NFL.

the most meaningless regular season in sports

the players don’t even care

The NBA still not over putting all of their eggs into one MJ basket after damn near two decades.

I've been telling yall this since SOHH 00' :sas1:

Garbage marketing of individual players over teams created this problem.

To you’re point, the NBA is the only sport with no rivalries

Rivalries is how you make games matter

What are you trying to say here
It's simple football is religion to Middle America. Football is engrained in the fabric of this country in a way basketball isn't culturally. They have multimillion dollar high schooo football stadiums in Texas. It's common on Friday Nights for entire towns to pack those stadiums, Saturdays are about NCAA, Sundays are about NFL. In rural and suburban middle America the sport is king, you'll find households that don't watch the NBA but you'll be out of luck finding one that don't like the NFL. The NFL has certain large demographics on lock, the NBA got a younger fanbase and a more urban fanbase.

Football is what it is not because it's a better game than basketball or more aesthetically pleasing but because it's 16 games a season, the gambling, the physicality, the fantasy football, the tailgate culture, more white American stars, most of the games are on Sunday which is a chill day for most people as they get ready for the work week most people going to church, doing laundry, and watching TV that day.
