An 82 game season is a lot for a casual fan to digest and for the working man to keep up with on a night to night basis especially for games in West Coast slots.

one, because you use Disney wide world of sports for basketball and abc/Disney always tanked ratings before cbs stepped in.
only reason nbc had high ratings was because of mike and rhen oversaturating his imagery and draw. Yet cbs is whom NBA basketball should be with.

as they have the best bball coverage and why bball became popular anyway on regular tv to begin with.

abc, nbc and fox have no idea how to do urban sports like hoops.

When the division doesn't matter, neither does the regular season.

And when the regular season doesn't matter folks just wait for the playoffs.

NFL : 6 division games out of 16 = 37.5% You have to win your division.

MLB : 76 division games out of 162 = 46.9% You have to win your division

NBA : 16 division games out of 82 = 19.5% You can go 0-16 and still be a 66 win team.

There's no need for a Bulls team in 2018 to play 2 games against The Warriors.

Work on winning your division. -- but divisions don't matter.

It's just about getting to the playoffs and since you play teams indiscriminately almost, no one team is truly in your way.

In Baseball, we kept the Cubs out of the playoffs, we had 4 games in Chicago and we swept them. We ended their season.

That doesn't really happen in an NBA regular season, there aren't enough division games for the Bucks to put their foot on the Pacers necks.

TV ratings have fallen across the board for everything. Most people have cut the cord completely and those who still have it only have it for live sports. People consume media differently these days, streaming (legal and illegal) is a huge part of the game and often goes unaccounted for. Not to mention now a days if you miss a game you can slide onto YouTube and catch the highlights the next day. Look how many views some of these NBA game highlights be getting on YT, Zions preseason debut got like 2.2m views. To use TV ratings as the end all be all of a sports popularity is stupid because TV simply isn’t the dominant form of media consumption it once was. The NBA absolutely dominates social media analytics and that shyt, to 99pct of modern day companies, is far more important than any amount of ratings.
