People were hyped for the game because CDPR had a great marketing rollout for this game. I'll give credit where it's due.

And other publishers have definitely released games at a quality that I would consider unaccepatable and used deceptive marketing to promote their software (CG trailers, gameplay only being shown on mid-gen upgraded hardware, only PC gameplay, etc).

Here's the thing though.. The rest of those publishers weren't sticking their chest out like CDPR.

They put themselves in this position. They aren't some new kid on the block and know how high the stakes are with AAA game development. Gamers put up with a lot of nonsense and give passes for stuff that should get checked. Too much imo. But there is a point where something becomes indefensible. And at that point the floodgates are open and nobody is going to save you from those sharks.

Facts, and on the business end, you release a game primarily developed for "last" or current gen with the next gen seeing the best version to play not the "last" being unplayable (post day 1 patch mind you) with next gen being the subpar option and the PC version being the best version left to play...So this happens and then CDPR proclaims and suggests "ALL" gamers who see fit to request a refund is entitled to one without clearing said promotion with the SONY or Microsoft? CDPR only began paying for refunds out of their pocket after the game was pulled from PS marketplace. SONY did the right thing and hence set an example for big budget games in the future, you too can be sonned and taken off the marketplace.

PUBG was horrible and it stayed up.

PUBG didn't release the hounds proclaiming "you get a refund, you get a refund..." and not fill in the vendors that they would be footing the bill. It's likely that SONY responded with their action after receiving so many refund requests...They pulled a KS and decided to use this as a "teachable moment". CDPR lacked tact with their moves post release

Crashes and the frequency of bugs have been ironed out over patches in the first week which will make the game age well. Fast forward a year in this ADHD world, things like hype and viral love/hate campaigns will be a distant memory and all that will remain is an excellent game. :yeshrug:
As is this is the best looking game I've played with a deep and fantastically voice acted story.

People who rate things down because of "hype" is weird af to me. As if a game's quality is determined by delusional expectations you dreamt up from a marketing campaign. People wanna talk about the actual gameplay as a sidebar to company comparisons, tranny reviews and trailer expectations? :camby: "the gameplay is good but its horrible because the trailer said...."

Bro what?

If the game was ass and unpatched this would be a different story. In this case its just bored wanting to pile on a topic because its trending

Should have saw the writing on the wall with the "crunch" and lgbt forced controversy earlier. :heh: GOTY

Worse possible scenario,

Stupid amount of hype and expectations. Game is pop culture status before release.

Crazy amount of casuals are interested and hype for a WRPG, which always has bugs and glitches

Huge player base that's on last gen systems

Biggest number of players on last gen systems are playstation user the most whiny and complaining group.

The version with the most cynical, casual and nitpicky player base is the most vocal and largest.

The PC and Xbox version of the game run much better than the playstation version.
