Jerry Reese finally getting interest for second NFL GM stint

"This frustrated Reese, according to sources close to him. He continued to live a quiet life, living outside of Nashville, also spending time on his farm in rural Tennessee. If NFL people wanted him, they knew where to find him. Reese made his interest known to the league office and also to the Fritz Pollard Alliance, a group comprised of coaches, scouts and front office executives committed to promoting diversity and minority hiring in the NFL.
Reese before this current hiring cycle received only one hint of interest, when the Raiders reached out to him two years ago about their general manager opening. Reese did not take an interview for the job, which was not a typically structured role — Jon Gruden as the head coach is signed to a 10-year contract and maintains power over all personnel decisions. The Raiders hired Mike Mayock, the longtime NFL Network draft analyst.
Reese is finally back on the wheel. He spoke to the Jaguars about their general manager opening, The Post confirmed, and the Panthers might bring him in for an interview. His name has surfaced as having attracted interest from the Lions and Falcons. . .
Unlike other executives looking to get back in, Reese never engaged in any media opportunities when they were offered. He is a resolute non-self-promoter. He never had an agent in all his years with the Giants and did not hire one to get his name out there. He never was interested in currying favor with the media and by the end of his tenure barely spoke for public consumption."
Fair enough. He's a quiet man for sure.

The NFL is soooooooooo America.

Only 7% of managerial positions in corporate America have black hires.

But some folk take this to mean that there aren’t enough qualified black candidates which is bullshyt. I’ve seen that argument used time and time again to explain this shyt. This shyt happens everywhere.

asked to bring up the issue.

How does Grambling feel about this?

One of these days I need you to start an HBCU football thread. I need to adopt a school. I listened to Hue on the pivot podcast and started looking up Grambling gear.

Giants fans have been showing they as$ over this :mjpls: I love my team but this fan base is low key trash. I’ve always said Jets fans were better.
@Pack2 spent a lot of energy saying I was wrong about :mjpls: driving behind Eli getting built around as a result of sports radio john from Totowa and their front office due to the mere presence of a black qb.

The long tail of racism always hurts those involved and erodes. Look at the state of the Giants as a result of trying to put tape around the Geno starting one game mistake, using David Webb as an out as if the cism should have existed in the first place.

I will never waiver from that shyt. It will always show resurface elsewhere.

Buy gear and if you can, donate too. When the new year began, I decided to donate to an HBCU a month. Only looked into doing when I was on the PVAMU athletic site and they were asking soliciting donations to buy track athletes spikes to train in. That's what jumpstarted it for me. So far it's been PVAMU (Jan), Grambling (Feb), and I'll donate to MVSU in March. Every bit helps some young sista or brotha

you also see it in the language as well

you never hear about a black coach being an x and o's or intelligent
its just "players love playing for him" or he's a good motivator.

if a black offensive coordinator is great its oh the coach is prob calling the plays

Lovie Smith :mjlol: The NFL is so fake and transparent. Congratulations on having a grand total of 2 black coaches. :mjlol:

Lovie Smith also happens to have suffered the same fate of 25% of black coaches to ever coach in the NFL when he got fired from the Chicago Bears despite having a winning record.

A fate only 6.9% of white coaches have ever suffered dating back to the 1978 expansion.
