I'm 6'1 and 217 and I usually do 275x10 three times on chest day. I haven't maxed in a while but I'd imagine I'm around 350. I'd say a respectable weight for any man is 135. Like dude above said not everybody goes to the gym on a consistent basis, so even 185 could be taxing for some nikkas :yeshrug:

I do 8-5-5 sets of 245 on the regular, but I've been lifting for a hot minute though

I'm scared to max out, the last time I tried a couple years ago I fukked up my shoulder, I've been bytchmade ever since :to:

this is the sports forum. who the hell hasn't lifted before? what high school sport doesn't require lifting?

:mindblown:
Played baseball, basketball and soccer in hs, yet i never lifted heavily.

So from your statement since every highschool sport requires some sort of running, can i say as a grown man you should be able to run a sub 1hr 30min half marathon? :heh:

How many people on this 'sports forum' would be able to achieve that.
I understand 185 not being a big deal, but unless you regularly lift weight, you probably couldn't lift it.

well i guess shyt is different where you at but where i went to highschool every baseball team had a mandatory lifting program. 3 times a week year round. that's where i learned technique in lifting and all that. we literally didn't have 1 kid on the team who could not bench at least 185. and most of the kids were under 5'11" hence why i thought 185 is a good number.

i could see someone who's never lifted in their life not being able to do 185 off the bat but i don't see how you couldn't after maybe 2-3 months of lifting. but i would assume nearly everyone has lifted at some point if they played any sport :ld:

A grown man should be able to materially and emotionally provide for himself, his woman & his kids. Everything else is what YOU think a man should be

Personally I use 90 lb dumbbells on the flat bench for reps. My barbell bench is probably in the 230-250 lbs range.

For the average man though, AT LEAST 130 lbs. Anything below that is :flabbynsick:.

And I'm not talking none of that halfway to your chest, bouncing up and down, over in a second bullshyt.. You slowly lower the weight until it touches your chest and push it back up. A little bounce on the bottom 1/4 of the movement is fair game.

For me to consider someone IN GOOD SHAPE, they must bench at least 200 lbs. For me to consider someone STRONG, they must bench over 300 lbs.

I think this post is about right. 135 is the bar plus one 45 lb plate on each side. This should be the minimum for a man. I did 315 as a 16 year old in high school, so I don't consider 300 strong, but in comparison to a regular man, yeah, I could see it. But for sure, 135 should be the minimum. Even the featherweights should be able to do that.

No dumb f*ck, 135 is the bar plus 2 45 pound plates. The bar only weighs 35 or 45 pounds, depend on which kind of bar you are using. I generally use the 45 pound bar.

I also did 185 17 times as a 16 year old. :myman:

It's all relative so I wouldn't put out a number but rather, a percentage.
185 is a lot to some people and a paper weight to others.

Yeah man its a lot of people in here out of touch with the regular dude. If you been around the gym culture since high school you may not understand but all joking aside, take a regular nikka off the street who hasnt been lifting and I guarantee 150 will blow that nikka up. If you around people who lift weights you may not think 185 is a lot to a regular person but it is.
