Their different ideology consists of what? Banning abortion, lowering taxes on the rich, being 2A gun perverts, agitating for neocon wars, cutting social security, punishing the poor because of their weird ass puritanical belief that America is a meritocracy, downplaying systemic racism in favor of mindless patriotism...like the Republicans have always been absolute scum, there's nothing salvageable from their ideology. They're worse than MAGATs because at least the MAGATs own their nasty bullshyt, Republicans slither around with a smile before biting you.

I don’t think Kamala should nominate a Republican to positions that can influence policy but nominating one to a lower level position like Secretary of Veteran of Affairs has zero downsides.

It’s not like they’ll be able to influence policy on abortion rights, start a war or cut social security, however it would add to her political capital especially when there is a good chance the Republicans will take the senate.

Of course you want her to appoint Republicans-- you are a Republican :camby:
while this isn't true; i'd vote for a moderate republican, before i'd vote for some purple haired fakkit on the far left, who sympathizes with Hamas, welcomes illegal immigrants, and can't define what a woman is

and you know who else would? every swing voter in america :mjlol:

Then what are the upsides? Obviously the theory is that it will signal to Republicans that they are welcome in Kamala's Democratic Party. I don't think perverts and murderers should be welcomed though. I think they should be buried. If this hypothetical Cabinet member is willing to denounce Republican ideology then that's a discussion, but if all it takes is to say you think Trump is a stupid moron with an ugly face and a big butt and his butt smells and he likes to kiss his own butt, then that's not nearly enough. Anti-Trumpism is no proper governing ideology.
