They don't believe in progress the way they project themselves to be all about. It's staving off the other party while doing nothing materially or even rhetorically to stave off them in a real way. All we're doing is regressing. If you can't see it, I don't know what to say. Lowkey, a lot of these same people have a doomerism attitude about the actual population and change in the country. Are you basing this off polls? Because the 2020 GE and 2022 midterms didn't show this at all to me.... I put some stock in polling data but not everything, I'd be very surprised to see a drastic change

Sure, but the problems of this era of America goes back to what happened in 2008 and how nothing was done for those that were irreparably injured with loss of homes.

Factory after factory was closed and moved overseas, many people broke their backs for companies and ended up losing their pensions.

And how the elected officials just put their hands in their pockets.

A lane opened for a con artist who could talk a good game, and Trump entered the room.

shyt even now, Trump tried to upset the order of our democracy in 2021 and yet is still allowed to run for president, and he has a damn good chance of winning, due to the establishment not taking things seriously.

You all can keep asking these questions or keep calling those people idiots, but a lot of them been injured and no one has done anything. I think a lot of them fall back on hatred and resentment, but a lot of them just want someone to "shake things up," because the status quo isn't working. This thing needs to be broken and repaired. Trump isn't that guy, but neither is Kamala Harris.

Kind of off-topic, but the bolded reminds me of a sentiment I've heard throughout my life which basically complains about the absence of leaders like Malcolm X, MLK, Huey Newton, etc. and how that's the reason we're stuck with the status quo we have right now. And while I understand the sentiment, it's always bothered me, but I couldn't put my finger on why it bothered me until relatively recently.

That sentiment is basically a form of the great man theory. If we are going to confront all of the challenges that we face and not get folded by them, it's going to require all of us, require the average person, to give a shyt and become informed and engaged with what's going on in the world around them. We can't keep waiting around for someone to save us.
