Money.

They're cheaper to hire and most British and Australian actors want to break into Hollywood. They'll take the cut in order to do so.

:mjlol:@ anyone talking about "talent" when Hollywood is solely about marketability and money. Jai Courtney wouldn't be constantly getting roles if it's just about "acting" or "having talent" :mjlol:
This is nonsense, idris is one of the highest paid actors, rick from TWD is getting the most pay on that show, same for lenny from fargo n countles others

Why do American actors need to be able to do "other accents" when 99% of the roles available require an American accent first an foremost? :mjlol:
well this is untrue

black panther requires east African accent
bio pics like mandella require accents
movies set in Europe require accents
breh what are you talking about,
movies set in Jamaica require accents etc.

Modern American culture doesn't lend to what cultivates a 'good actor'.

  • Nuance is not valued in our culture, people prefer over the top behavior here
  • Patience with career results is also not valued
  • The paper/fame chase makes actors take roles that probably pay well/get them noteriety in the short-term but is a hinderance to their future
  • Our education system doesn't value 'the arts' in comparison
  • Our education system is overall less rigorous in comparison

basically... we bout it bout it

True...but I'd just like to see American black men/women get their shot because there's tons of talent they overlooking.

Lets not front, movie producers are probably blinded by the accent and automatically presume any British actor is classically trained in Shakespearean thespianism. :mjlol:

:russ: Exactly! Also if we think all time their best actors arent better than ours. Also i couod be wrong but the Brits take less money too.

be mad because british actors actually care about being a GREAT actor than a famous actor like the ones over in america

you idiots crying like all the british actors came over and said yeah i'll take $1000 per movie fukk these yanks, like they dont make the same amount if not more because of their craft..

instead of being a hating dikkhead , maybe you should wonder why the american counterparts aren't as good..

What is an American role?

there is no ''american'' role, an actor is someone who CAN ACT, so there is no limit to what role american, british or whatever he/she can act... people tryna bait that trump rhetoric ''theyre stealing out jobs'' shtick.. pitiful

The vast majority of roles in Hollywood are American what are you talking about? :mjlol:

If you're an actor in Hollywood, you will play American characters for the majority of your acting career unless you're typecast as "the foreigner with a special non-American accent".

Your thread premise is about English actors taking roles from Americans, English actors who in order to do so have to be able drop their accents for an American one to get roles :dead:

lets say English actors not brits

and no they don't take less money, and yes they are better than American actors.
British: Term comprising people from England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. Based on that picture I see several Welsh ( Christian Bale, Michael Sheen, Mathew Rhys) and Northern Irish ( Jamie Dornan, Liam Neeson) so nah Im gonna stick to British. And Im saying all time there aint no fukkin Brit touching American acting legends.

Sorry but they're facts :yeshrug:.

If an English actor wants to break into Hollywood, they're taking a pay cut and can subsequently be imported, hired and initially paid for far less than an American actor.

Your thread is about English actors moving into an American run field (Hollywood) :dahell:

So of course Hollywood and Hollywood movies matter:laff:
