As long as you expand more energy than you store...You will lose fat...

A combination of sprinting and long distance is the best...

What I used to do when I was in shape,

I would jog for a certain distance, and every time I jogged, I tried to decrease my time...

But when going back home, I would sprint as fast as I can from one traffic light to the next, and then jog for the next bock, and then sprint again for one block...Until I reached home...

I feel you. I'm on a similar tip, I always try to sprint the last quarter mile every time I am running. And if I am doing more than 3 miles, I will alternate quartermiles after the first 2 miles, like I will sprint two, jog two, or sprint two jog one, walk one, depending on how I am feeling to get that extra burn :obama:

BUMP

I want to know if jogging or sprinting is the best option for me.

In the last year or so, I have been hitting the weights but nothing too intense.

I have made gains in my upper body but I havent really been focusing on training my legs.

I have also done little cardio in that time.

I want to build lean muscle, get cuts and improve my heart rate

So should I be doing jogging for long periods or short bursts of sprinting?

Note- I dont want to lose the gains Ive made from weight lifting

HIIT. If you want some more in depth advice, I suggest hitting us up in The Gym subforum.

Why is it when you do a lot of cardio you lose all muscle?

I was cut up like the late Fake tupac shakur. Then I started hoopin again now I'm bony and all my muscles shrunk.

I was going to make a new thread over there but then I found out that there was already a thread made here on a similar topic so I bumped this instead. No need for multiple threads on the same issue.

What is HIIT?

Thats why I have been avoiding cardio since I have started hitting the weights.

Dont want to lose my gains :bryan:

I meant in basic practical terms

Is it sprinting for a short while and then jogging?

Sprinting for a short period (30 secs or so), resting for a min or so then sprint again and rest and do it again. Increase the repetitions each week or so.

Resting is a slow walk or light jog.

I may be wrong but that's how I view it.

Short bursts at high intensity, followed by periods of complete rest or low intensity. You can do HIIT with anything...sprinting, weights, jumping rope..

Does cardio workout such as HIIT make you lose the gains from weight lifting?

Because if it does then Im probably wont do it and continue with my no-cardio/strict weight lifting workout regime.

Im completely out of shape, so I started jogging recently. I do at least an hour with 2-3 minute breaks in between. I'll start with the hiit in at least 3 months time when I can at least run an hour without stopping.
Should be summer as well so the parks should be good for the sprinting.

No way I'm gonna sprint on the machine :scusthov:

Increase your protein and lift heavy weights if you want to keep your muscles whilst hiiting
