If the film opened to the figures that it should have, especially with it's whopping $255M production budget(cost more than The Avengers, Iron Man 3, The Dark Knight Rises btw ) and had good word of mouth(The cinema scores are comically low and below the first) like Cap 2 or Iron Man 3, it would have held. Cap 2 held off Rio didn't it? if it opened far lower than expected and had bad word of mouth, it would have been crushed like how this was. However Cap 2 was actually a well-made film, opened high, set records, had high cinema scores and subsequently held the top spot for almost a month.
