Album simply isn't as good as the press said it was. I have no desire to ever play it. I scheduled listening's to just sort of be abreast to this supposed cultural phenomenon. It was coo. certainly some trash shyt on it. "looshy" is just silly. The poems suck. Pac at the end is just absurd. Couple other marginal forced epic moments. not a hit record in sight. these walls is the closest to a radio song but that shyt light as hell.

Joey Badass made a better album. And his stuff doesn't sound at all retread or nostalgic like the blogs have purported and stigmatized him as. Bad Mon is no more offensive than King Kunta or Wesley's Theory in paying homage.

That video for Badmon is just :ahh::whoo:

Also, any album with Rapsody on it looks REAL funny in the light. And that's one of the best beats on the record. 2 Jigga name drops she does. TWO. She's awful.

The shyt doesn't bang, which is an interesting thing for a hip hop album.

It's more cerebral though, so you need to be in a certain zone to appreciate it. I love it when I'm listening to it, but I can tell I won't be reaching for it too many times.

yeah i been said that since the day it leaked..had dudes callin me crazy & shiit..she seems like a nice person but that verse wack.

His music lacks soul.

The afrocentric aspect of his music seems artificial or purely intellectual.

I don't know, but something is missing.

yall going too far right now..kendrick is a brilliant lyricist/artist, he just lacks charisma..sometimes you need that to pull off the kind of music he's trying to do.

his interviews are a disaster

I'm not talking about interviews and others PR bullshyt.

I'm just talking about his music. I think he has some good artistic qualities, but this album seems to lack something in order to give his subject matter its real dimension.

Maybe I'm just speculating too much, and I'm not a specialist of his music.

Yeah, but that's vague; something more precise is lacking.

that's exactly what's lacking. Kendrick has little-to-no artistry, in the soul/perspective sense. He's a career rapper. He's been rapping for years, doing his generic mixtapes until he caught wind of the right gimmick at the right time (being 'positive').

I feel you on this.

Peice of shyt album has no songs that slump in the whip.

I bet you if the KKK were rapping on hot trap beats on how they kill blacks and Hispanics, you would bump it,right? :stopitslime:

I hate when people restrict black music to trap/ratchet music, which is techno in heaver bass and drums. Kendrick offered a damn good followup to GKMC, but people still stubborn and try to downplay his influence.

Listened to it today. The album is a 4/5 to me. The buzz in here is always crazy for a month in a half to 2 months tops when a much anticipated album drops. Depending on the quality and longevity though.I still think this and Lupe's album are the best i've heard this yr so far. Plus we living in the microwavable instant streaming times. A complete different time from cd's where u bumped albums for 6 months straight. The attention span is waaaay shorter than before. Being that everybody got their 2 week fix its time to jump back on the craving something better train. Sad but true.

Yeah, people want new music every damn week from the same artist, and that is beyond exhausting for the fans as well. How you make so much music and none of it stands the test of time :mindblown: ?
