Good article on the main page btw...but :childplease: u way off if u think Benzino actually thought he could beat Eminem and 50 who just ja ruled ja rule at that time lol...he wuz just sayin what had to be said bcuz EVERY other black media outlet swept it under the rug completely so not to upset the machine...probaly moreso bcuz they wanted to maintain access to 50 more then they cared about Eminem, but em was 50s boss...I think his intention wuz just to check Eminem,he knew he couldn't win goin in with the general public overall but probaly thought the hiphop/black community would at least have his back.

Appreciate that you read the article breh.
I respectfully disagree with your point of view though breh. Not much more I can add than that.

benzino spoke a lot of real sh!t. just that his credibility was shot at the time so no one took him seriously. he destroyed The Source so we all held that against him. but what he said about Em, Interscope was on point. cacs own this music anyway sorry to say.

benzino didnt destroy the source.

the source was at its peak of success when he called out eminem.

this is your response?

why do you idiots even bother posting? seriously.

Im black and i feel benzino chose the wrong person and the wrong battle to rally with. What you call heart i call exploiting the fact that he was trying to keep his name relevant. There was no social issue he was rallying around at all, he was simply making every attempt to be socially relevant while putting his album out.

All the while running my fav magazine into the fukking ground. Alot of yall just ride with that dude because em's whiteness still bothers you. Get over that shyt. Call me a c00n, call me whatever, but Benzino trying to remain relevant gets no respect from me.

Not to mention, bigging up hip hop weekly? That pathetic gossip rag? thats what its come down to? Come on.

i wasnt even thinking of taking it there, but since you brought it to my attention, yes you do sound like a c00n.

youre going out of your way to disregard everything that benzino brought to the table in this situation and instead, you focus on everything but the matter at hand. and worst of all, youre accusing us of being racists just because we're not falling for the propaganda.

so im racist because i take offense to the fact that somebody whos had minimal impact on the culture and never made a memorable album(let alone a classic) is being hailed as a goat contender BECAUSE HES WHITE? im racist because of that?:comeon:

your post is the personification of c00ning homie. especially considering that nobody in here was even thinking of using that word until you came in here talking bout "label me a c00n if you want".

Compromise the integrity of a magazine that hip-hop heads viewed as the hip-hop Bible.

:childplease:

if you ever viewed the source or any of these mags as a hip-hop bible, then thats on you.

calling out eminem was the biggest integrity gainer by them in my book.

lol @ "risked his whole livelihood". what livelihood? he himself said time and time again during that beef "yall cant damage my career". he dont make no money off music, he aint risk a damn thing. he was hoping to start a career off of being a fake ass pseudo revolutionary for the "cause", smh, and as was expected he failed miserably and got his ass flame broiled lyrically in the process. oh, and lets not forget how benzino really got his position at the source, haha, he dont wanna bring that up

evidently, he risked his livelihood as co-owner of the source. DUH.

you people have your distaste for benzino the rapper on your mind so tough that youre cant even recognize THAT, let alone the message. this is the chit that im talking about.

Handed it off to who?who with credibility in the game would've done anything with those tapes?:snoop: I wuz ashamed of these nikkas who didn't back benzino..gave a lot of them cats shine in his magazine, matter fact made ALL of em hot with his magazine and what they do? Go to the competetions magazine and downplay everything benzino wuz doin...they took sides in the war and it wuz the side of the guy who never helped they career, and wuz caught on record bein racist...I don't care if eminem can rap what that got to do with anything...I've seen better rappers take heat for less...seen better rappers take more heat for songs not nearly as bad as these eminem songs posted in this thread....Cube gets more hate for makin kids movies then Em gets for racist tapes, think about that for a second.....its in the mindstate of a lot of hiphop fans to protect white hiphop artist and fans subconciously I think....they view white people as visitors and don't feel comfortable keepin it real, they wanna be ambasadors for whites and will shuck and jive to be just that.

POWERFUL POSTING.

i knew from the start that this was gonna backfire on the source. i knew that white people were gonna boycott and black people would be more concerned with the messenger just like some stupid house niqqers. the only way that this would have a chance to work is if a major-major player in the game would have spoken up, but unfortunately there hasnt been any rappers in that type of position that are willing to speak up on chit like this in ages.

the bolded is the best statement in this thread by far. if you say anything negative or just not-so-positive about eminem, most black people will go :dwillhuh: and try to make up excuses. some will even go as far to call you a racist. and mind you, 9 times out of 10, THEY MESS WITH EMINEM EVEN LESS THAN YOU DO but its embedded in them to act this way even tho they really dont like dude either. dudes is str8 brainwashed to feel uncomfortable in their own culture. its sickening.

i was listening to some show where they were listing wack singles of the 2000s. they were even listing songs by the all-time elite like ll cool j, jay-z, etc. but when somebody called in an mentioned an eminem song, there was an uncomfortable silence until one of the hosts said "hes...hes talented tho".

So Eminem has no classic albums? if it wasnt for the fact that its you saying it I would be curious to know why you would think that, but you never cease to amaze me with your thought process. Writers block is close to illmatic, but Eminem has no classic Albums. I guess everyone is entitled to their opinion.

And yes, i took it to the level i took it because i know with the opinion i have, people such as yourself are always ready to label anyone who didint side with Benzino on that beef c00ns. You always talk about the streets and this and that, out here in oakland cali i never met a single black person who gave a flying fukk about Benzinos stupid ass self serving "crusade" against the machine and eminem. And im talking in the studio, with rappers. Nobody cared, some people werent crazy about it, but nobody i ever ran across while engineering ever cared as much as some of yall (wacky d) do.

Sometimes i think you take these stances just to be counter cultural. Again, call me a c00n if you wish, you thinking im wrong only reaffirms that im likely making a valid point. Since whatever is the opposite of you is the logical stance on just about anything.

eminem clearly waved the white flag in '04, benzino made those comments (which u werent close to describing) in '07. learn your history and tell me who back pedaled.

like who? mtv? xxl? im sure u would have preferred that.

this is a red herring white people like to use about this situation. he was rapping before eminem and he was dissing eminem before the tape.

and it wouldnt matter if benzinos motivations were a childhood beef with eminem over a stolen bicycle, the fact is eminem did what he did and every outlet downplayed and defended and whitewashed, while the source provided part of the tape and opinions by actual rappers that matched with how a lot of people felt about it (not to mention the thorough investigative journalism).

if one publication goes to this extent because one of its owners already warned people the :cac: was an imposter/was already dissing him before that, and the other publications dont give a fukk but to defend eminem and k-i-m, why should anyone care about the beef? at least someone hated him enough not to brush it under the rug.

the beef not existing (or benzino being spineless) would have been pathetic for honest hip hop journalism, at a time eminem getting exposed required a serious response and discussion.

but that is obviously the way u would like it, :cac: :scusthov:

i can vouch for the fact that hexagram aint on it like that. i believe he doesnt even like eminem. hes wrong, but hes not in here on some secret racist chit like some of these dudes.

other than that, this was a great post.

these offbrand dudes on here dont understand what your saying right now.

lol @ eminem even coming close to having a classic. the only people that think he does are white people, c00ns and wierdos. yet you try to play me off as crazy? f**kin internet dudes man.

and youre up here writing articles but you cant read. i never said writer's block was close to illmatic. dumbass.

wtf? this thread was like 40 posts deep by the time you came in here. if i was quick to label somebody a c00n, dont you think i wouldve did that by now? the word c00n didnt even cross my mind until you came in here proudly waving the c00n flag.

:what:i never said anybody cared about benzino's crusade. THATS THE POINT OF THE THREAD, DIKKHEAD!!!!!!! you cant even comprehend a scripted conversation. what type of streets you be in? i dont think you even leave the house much. by the way, what rappers are you in the studio with in the bay? mistah fab? v-nasty?

you talked a bunch of bullchit. youre way out of your league right now.

what i say sounds crazy to you and others because smart-dumb niccas like yourself run rampant on the internet and i stay crushing your holy grails, like a wise man on here once said.

Yup I forgot who talkd about this before but they used it as a obama analogy....Eminem being the first to get that love and respect like that,as a black person u can't say nuthin bad about Em without people automatically thinking its due to race....so a lot of nikkas try to be diplomatic to the point of disgust....bcuz u right a lot of these dudes don't listen to eminems albums at all...but they don't wanna be seen as racist so they stay diplmatic...and since they have been brainwased to believe eminem hate must be bcuz ur racist they defend even the indefensible....its like how white people couldn't say shyt bad about donavan mcnabb or vicks skills bcuz they were the first black qbs to get to that level of respect in recent memory....now that's there's plenty black qbs...white folks can speak freely and keep it real and we won't look at them as racist automatically, and nikkas can keep it real and say "yea mcnabb ain't that accurate on the short pass"....eminem I the product of having no other credible white rappers in the mainstream...if there were other credible white rappers skill wise and artist wise,we could all keep it real and say dude is a wack artist and the white crooked I with slightly less skill imo...he gets the benefit of being the greatest white rapper

i think youre wrong. i made a benzino/eminem thread on sohh and he came in derailing with gifs, then when i sent pos reps that said ''good argument'' to all the whites derailing the thread, he was forced to come back and actually try and make a point and he opened like ''now i went from kinda c/sing, to this kid is on some bs'', then presented the same fallacy he brought here while saying he dont like eminem. why would u c/s when u were derailing? and how many more times did he pop up to defend eminem while saying he didnt like him? more than the one time i mentioned. so is he trying to be objective or simply wired to defend eminem under any circumstance? he made the answer clear a while ago, if not here.

Here's why the Benzino shyt was never taken seriously...

BECAUSE MOST PEOPLE WHO WEREN'T IDIOTS KNEW THAT THIS WAS ALL A PERSONAL AGENDA AND PUBLICITY STUNT.

Benzino, owner of a magazine that had fallen out with an artist, turned this magazine as a vehicle to push this agenda. The same magazine that was the first national publication to sing that artist's praises before he was even signed. The same magazine that told everyone he was dope by quoting his lyrics and running articles on him. The same magazine that gave his albums good ratings and considered him to be one of the best of his era.

Suddenly, and in a matter of months after they ran a cover story on this artist, he becomes the poisonous, cancerous sore that is damaging and killing hip-hop?

You can see the hypocrisy in the agenda, and then you add that to an aging rapper who had gotten like 20 record deals and never made more than 2 semi-hit records, who JUST HAPPENED to have an album coming out... who all at once was promoting his rivalry with Eminem and this album... while Eminm is arguably at the peak of his own popularity... the shyt had "marketing ploy" written all over it.

I think if it had come from a different source, no pun intended, it would've been taken more seriously. But to see it coming from someone who'd bigged him up for 4 years straight until that point... you knew it had nothing to do with their "he's ruining hip-hop" message.

You gotta be incredibly stupid to get me attacking Benzino mixed up with me defending Eminem. I dislike both, but in this thread I see misguided people like you praising Benzino as some kind of hip-hop champion, so I'm focusing on that.

Since you have trouble reading, let me say this again. Benzino should've handed the tape off to someone else. Meaning, someone who didn't have an ulterior motive, who wouldn't later try to back peddle and say "ah well, Em ain't really that bad, we should work together!". It don't matter if it was 3-4 years later, or 10 years later, he back peddled like a motherfukker.

Again, he should've handed the tape off to literally anyone else, who would actually be taken seriously. How you got "MTV or XXL" out of that I don't know. The fukk is wrong with you?

And if you're actually still catching feelings from some shyt I said to you on SOHH only God knows how long ago, you need to examine your priorities in life. Because honestly I don't even remember you from SOHH, nor any kind of argument we got into, least of all about Eminem, a rapper several people can vouch that I never really talk about, or even like.

This, 100%. Pos Rep too. You would have to be gullible as fukk to not see Benzino had an agenda. I guess everyone with common sense loves Eminem.
