PS5 SSD is far ahead of those found in high end PCs according to Epic founder.

2k(1440p) has always been the peak standard of pc gaming. Why these consoles try to push 4k gaming with inferior hardware is a market gimmick imo. Any modern 2k gaming rig is gonna shyt on these so called "4k" consoles.

Until 4k gaming can run at 144hz+ well above 60fps, no one should even care for 4k anything.

but at least 4k60 in closed environment systems without bloated OS overhead should be closer to reality right? :to:

According to the latest Steam survey only 0.77% of GPUs are the RTX 2080Ti but let PC gamers on message boards tell it every single one of them runs a maxed out rig and the 2080Ti is the standard GPU level for PC. The GTX 1060 is the most popular card but even that is only 11% of the market.

I was about to say that. And isn't PS5's 5.5? Either way 6.5gb are on their way for PC.

Edit:

The Epic founder even admits there are just as fast PC SSDs on the market.

Epic CEO Tim Sweeney says the PS5 is so impressive it’s ‘going to help drive future PCs’

According to this article he was mostly talking from a development standpoint.
Rather, he’s saying the custom drive Sony created and the way it interacts with the overall PS5 data management system makes it faster and more impressive from a development standpoint that anything a consumer could readily buy today
You can't buy a SSD like the PS5 right now and even then like he said, the way it's designed to work with the PS5 it has an advantage so slapping in a comparable SSD into your PC right now means nothing as no games will be tailored around it and the whole console.

They'll certainly tell it, but then when pressed it's :whoa: medium settings at 1024x768 for performance :mjlol:

You understand theirs a 2080 rtx that out performs the ps5 gpu is available and about $500-$600 less than the 2080 ti you are trying to fail to use to make a valid point. TI is a special edition of the 2080 rtx, and costs currently around $1200. Yes, you got us, not many of us own a super rare, usually sold out, small production of the best performing GPU that cost $1200-1500. You got us. Never seen this argument on here before :martin:

Its like how you can a Mercedes benz (2080 rtx) and then theirs an AMG version available for higher cost (2080 ti)

I cant believe this needs to be explained in 2020 still.

either way, the PS5 is comparable to the 2070 RTX which as said already, great value for power in a $399 console.

That's my point no devs have yet taken advantage of it on the PC.

The differences are negligible in every day use from SATA. I wouldn't spend the money if I were you.

I don't plan on upgrading storage anytime soon. I got a TB HDD, a TB SSD, and a 250 gb boot SSD that are holding me over for now. I'll upgrade my GPU, CPU, and monitors before I do anything with storage at the current rate. Unless I just see a price for one I have to jump on since I don't need to move much around to install an NVME.

Pc gaming will only take advantage of ssd when it becomes part of the minimum specs required which I don't think any games has required it yet.

I think itll be $399 or worst case $499.

I worked at CompUSA at 18-19 years old during them $599 days and saw them ps3 collect dust so I doubt they go back that high.

I think they need to continue to master making money on the back end (psn, movies, digital sales, etc) and can keep upfront cost down.

$499 can be do able but youre rolling the dice at that point.

at $499 youre also reaching dangerous “too expensive” territory for the average house hold, especially since i think theyll release this holidays, but the economy is non existent and unemployment is higher than ever. Parents will do what they can to make sure their kids have a great holidays since summer is all but cancelled in a lot of states, but has to be reasonably priced for this to happen.

if people by December have to choose between a $600 ps 5 and food on the table or keep the lights on or pay rent.. well i think you know how thats going to go.

sony has played it safe with Playstation. I think theyll take the L upfront and make it back over time on subscriptions.

$399-499 my estimation. No chance of it going over.

I've always been bracing for 499, so anything cheaper is better.
