I saw Bird play and obviosly Kobe.

Bird is a better low post player, passer, rebounder, 3 point shooter. He was also was a better team player.

Kobe is a better defender, penetrator, and is generally better at creating his own shot due to his athleticism. Kobe's athleticism + his creativity to create his shot IMO gives him the edge.

But if we're talking about Bird before he broke his back, he's right up there with Kobe.

Bird was not a better post player.

Pau carried Kobe to 2 titles and Shaq carried him to 3 others. Kobe's never won a title without the best frontcourt in the league. He also didn't win any titles at his peak because he chose to drive Shaq out of town and chuck for 3 years and then whine and demand a trade every year until David Stern gifted the Lakers an all star for nothing. Kobe's the most helped superstar of all time.

Meanwhile it was never a question who the best player on the 80s Celtics was even though he had such a great supporting cast. Bird won 3 straight MVPs at his peak, Kobe won 0.

You say pau carried kobe yet the numbers don't back it up. I hate trolls that try to make arguments in legitimate threads. If you are going to say nonsense create your own threads so everyone can laugh at you.

Before he injured his back, yes he was. He had a fadeaway, to get his shot off, plus he was creating out of the post and setting up his teammates.

This is not a slight to Kobe.

lol Kobe is a top 5 post player only Hakeem, Kareem, Jordan clearly rank higher in the post. Bird is nice but Kobe has the full kit.

Bird had a waaaaaay better front court than Kobe, smh. He had Hall of Famers in Parrish and McHale, you killed your own argument. ALSO, a bench player in Cedric "Cornbread" Maxwell won a Finals MVP over Bird, Kobe won 2 when he was the sole leader and other times Shaq won. Oh, Larry's supporting cast>>>>Kobe's supporting cast. Also, Magic was "helped" more than Kobe, look at his cast, and Lebron in Miami is "helped " more too.

He said the fact that Kobe did not have an MVP at that time makes him want to give his away. Your reading comprehension is woat.

But the again if you think a player is better than another when they have less championships, less NBA all first teams, no defensive first team selection, less all star appearances, you're just a lost cause.

Let's preface this by stipulating that you are an idiot. You should not be barking about reading comprehension. Whether or not Bird thinks kobe is better than him is not resolved by your quote. You are not only Canadian, you are clearly malnourished as evidenced by the videos of you being molested by asian hippies. This has resulted in stunted brain development.

Bird has 3 MVP's. He was patronizingly willing to give Kobe one of them, I suppose. Saying Kobe has his respect means Bird thinks Kobe is better?

BTW, I think both are fairly close as players. Who I would choose for a team depends on the team. For example, Bird would be a better complement to a CP3 type player than a Kobe would be. However, prime kobe was a better 1-1 defender. Bird is severely overrated as a defender and I don't know how he got on all-defense teams ever.

I followed kobe's career ever since SLAM did a feature of him while he was at lower merion (i wonder how much that magazine would go for on ebay...kinda broke right now. Any coli nikkas interested, pm me. Bidding price starts at a stack). I have the episode where he appeared on Moesha on VHS. I cried my eyes out when he air balled two times against the jazz in the playoffs, only to see jordan sink a game winning, buzzer beater against the jazz in game 1 of the finals that year. I take every August 23rd off just to commemorate the man. Probably shouldn't be saying this on the internet, but wtf no one reads this shyt, my daughter is named kobina.

That being said, I'm going with bird.:wow:

Kobe top 5 post player?:snoop:

Excluding Bird

Hakeem
MJ
Kareem
Duncan
McHale
Shaq
Wilt
Ewing
Barkley
Malone

Half of that list doesn't have the passing out of the post to even be in the same conversation. Majority of them can't post up anywhere on the floor like a MJ or Kobe.
