Bird was a better passer, rebounder, team defender, team leader, and pure shooter as well as just a better all around human

Bird is a dead beat dad who neglected his kids and has a reputation of being an a$$hole. Kobe cheated on his wife with some hoe who threw a rape charge at him...that chick was found to have multiple semen samples in her. If you think Kobe is a legit rapist then you're naive as fukk. So tomato for fukking tomato, don't give me this saint Larry BS.

Who the hell in this thread has actually ever seen Larry Bird play? I don't understand how anyone who wasn't watching basketball in the mid-80s could even speculate on this.

Since I never saw Bird play, all I can go on is resumes. And even though its close. Kobe's got the better resume. More titles, all-star selections, all-nba, all-defense, higher on the all-time scoring list, more scoring titles, etc. Only thing Bird got on Kobe is a 3-1 advantage in MVPs. Both have 2 Finals MVPs.

On paper Kobe should be higher. But I'm going to give Bird some respect and say that it would be wrong for me to say Kobe's better since I never saw him play.

the only thing arguable is whether he was a better shooter. He was a better rebounder and passer. Has nothing to do with skin color. Or are you somehow more impartial because you're black?
Bird is considered to be one of the greatest shooters in NBA history. If anything that's the one thing that's not arguable.

I didn't see Mike Jordan play but he's the goat.
I didn't see Jackie Robinson play but he's the goat (one of).
I didn't see Barry Sanders play but he's view was the goat RB. (one of).

I was just looking at some of his 3 point % and it was insanely low for some seasons, guessing he got better with age, my brain also has a hard time separating shooting from being a great scorer. I think Kobe is the better overall scorer
don't entertain his ignorance.
he's just trollin :heh: thought he knew by now it wouldn't work on me tho

The 3 point shot wasn't utilized back then as it is now. When Bird shot 3's it was usually on a broken play with a few seconds left on the shot clock.

its one thing to say player A is one of the greats......its another to say player A is better than player B

my problem ain't with giving people props you ain't seen play cause of their accomplishments during their era

I just don't get how people can compare players directly across eras they never saw. Kobe could be much better than Bird head to head even if he didn't accomplish much more in his era than Bird did in his. Thats what ya'll don't seem to get.

There is a difference between having a better resume and being a better player. You can compare players you never saw play in deciding who had better accomplishments. Its just impossible to do a straight up whose better comparison if you never saw them play.

i did, I'm taking Bird. Most memorable moment for me was the game against Portland on the NBA on NBC Sunday game where he scored 47 with his LEFT hand because his right hand was busted and that was at the end of his career...

Dozens of Kobe haters on the coli. Do you really expect an impartial answer? :comeon:
Fixed. And tbh it should be a unanimous decision in favor of Kobe. Unfortunately the insecurity of Bron stans forces them to undermine the greatness of Bean any chances they get. They know Kobe is and will aways be better than Bron :smugbiden:

Interesting subject.

They match up pretty well outside the MVPs. I actually think Kobe is the superior playoff performer, contrary to what maybe popular belief. Larry had a good amount of runs that really didn't improve or were worse than his regular season numbers.

Larry had the definite advantage in intangibles which is mostly due to the very different styles of play have.

You could go either way IMO.
