He said the fact that Kobe did not have an MVP at that time makes him want to give his away. Your reading comprehension is woat.

But the again if you think a player is better than another when they have less championships, less NBA all first teams, no defensive first team selection, less all star appearances, you're just a lost cause.
:russ: like those mean anything when there just popularity contest unlike MVPS which Bird has three times as many and unlike kobe he LEAD his team to each of his championships didnt just go along for the ride

so 3 > 2 as far as LEADING his team to a champinship

not to mention his numbers are better in every single category

but hey if your a fakkit ass Canadian that's never been to LA claiming the lakers you're just a lost cause

Who the hell in this thread has actually ever seen Larry Bird play? I don't understand how anyone who wasn't watching basketball in the mid-80s could even speculate on this.

Since I never saw Bird play, all I can go on is resumes. And even though its close. Kobe's got the better resume. More titles, all-star selections, all-nba, all-defense, higher on the all-time scoring list, more scoring titles, etc. Only thing Bird got on Kobe is a 3-1 advantage in MVPs. Both have 2 Finals MVPs.

On paper Kobe should be higher. But I'm going to give Bird some respect and say that it would be wrong for me to say Kobe's better since I never saw him play.

so there are no videos on the internet in today's time that u cant watch Bird play?

Bird and it's not even close.

I bet you're white and it's not even close. The fact that you can look at both of their resumes and say its not even close shows how awful of a poster you are.

Actually his eFG isn't that much different than Kobe's ....

He also played in an era with a faster pace, easier path to the finals, weaker defenses, etc....

Kobe's numbers tend to get better in the postseason where as Bird's tended to take a dip

With all that said, Bird peaked higher but Kobe sustained his peak twice as long.

The numbers bear out that those defenses were weaker. They didn't even have zone defenses or swarm style defenses back then. This is supported by every advanced stat that exist...

This is prime. Resume's don't count. Peak Bird shat on peak Kobe.

Peak bird played with an all star caliber team. Kobe carried Ariza, Fisher and Pau who couldn't win a playoff game on his own(in Memphis and LA) to two titles. :umad:

I knew you were white.

Pau carried Kobe to 2 titles and Shaq carried him to 3 others. Kobe's never won a title without the best frontcourt in the league. He also didn't win any titles at his peak because he chose to drive Shaq out of town and chuck for 3 years and then whine and demand a trade every year until David Stern gifted the Lakers an all star for nothing. Kobe's the most helped superstar of all time.

Meanwhile it was never a question who the best player on the 80s Celtics was even though he had such a great supporting cast. Bird won 3 straight MVPs at his peak, Kobe won 0.

You are caught up in narrative. The Celtics had a significantly easier path to the finals than what Kobe faced throughout his career.
