Bird had a better prime but it was only 4-5 years
Kobe prime is arguably double the amount of years of Larry Bird's

Do you prefer peak or longevity?

Bird was also the greatest college shooter of all time and had some amazing season's there he played in an era where you actually went to school for 4 years don't discount those

Actually his eFG isn't that much different than Kobe's ....

He also played in an era with a faster pace, easier path to the finals, weaker defenses, etc....

Kobe's numbers tend to get better in the postseason where as Bird's tended to take a dip

With all that said, Bird peaked higher but Kobe sustained his peak twice as long.

You know what, I won't bother giving my opinion... let's just see what Bird has to say about this matter

“I think Kobe is the best player in our league and I think he’s been the best player for a long time, not to take anything away from anybody else. You know, somebody told me the other day that [Kobe] hasn’t won an MVP trophy, and it sort of made me feel like I want to go throw mine away, so that’s how much respect I have for the guy.”

there you have it

That's why you compare what they did in relation to their era and how dominant they were against their peers. No one is asking who was a better player in a vacuum because with current day training and medicine, it's not a fair argument.

That doesn't answer the question. He said Kobe was the best player contemporaneous with those statements. He did not say Kobe was better than him.

He said the fact that Kobe did not have an MVP at that time makes him want to give his away. Your reading comprehension is woat.

But the again if you think a player is better than another when they have less championships, less NBA all first teams, no defensive first team selection, less all star appearances, you're just a lost cause.
