I feel like this is being overhyped by game industry people....the casual fan doesn't really give a fukk.

The idea that this is a Switch killer is silly.

It's obviously a dope product if you're a games journalist or a hardcore gamer, but I don't see it blowing up beyond that.
it's cool, but I just don't have a use for portable gaming. my Switch stay on the dock

Yup, portable gaming that I do is handled by my phone now, followed by my switch if I'm in that mood or with a group of friends or family.

Any other on the go gaming I'd probably handle via x cloud.

But 85 percent of any gaming I'm gonna do that isn't at home is going to be on my phone nowadays and I think that's the same for most people.

So if I can't use my phone, laptop or tablet to play then it probably won't get played.

I can't even tell the last time I've seen anyone even take out a switch on a airplane or transit etc.

Yeah my switch used out of the dock is literally for use around the house and maybe if I go on a road trip in the car or fams house.
I keep trying to invent ways I'd use this and I honestly can't, lol. It's a nice piece of tech but nothing about my lifestyle says I should get it. That said, I'll probably get the third one, whenever it drops.

I've had my Steam Deck for 2 months now, and I've put more hours on it during this time period, than I gamed during the prior 6 months. I've been crushing my backlog of games. I completed Vanquish, Dead Space 2, Dead Space 3, Metro Last Light, both Metro Exodus DLCs, and Halo 2 again. Work and family have killed most opportunities to sit down and game on my PC or in front of my TV. So now I game everywhere else. I'm surprised Steam Deck's lack of compatibility with 90% of competitive online shooter isn't brought up more. This limits it to a secondary system to most gamers.
