Why couldn't you stream your own games via the cloud before last week on your Amazon fire kindle stick without paying for GP ultimate?

You saying all this but I'm quite sure if a picture leaked of an Xbox handheld that's exactly the same as the PS Portal you'd suddenly understand ergonomics, ease of use and dedication for one feature for a device overnight :mjlol:

-Xbox says "we are making a handheld, it's awhile out though"

-In response PlayStation says "We already have a handheld and guess what you don't have to wait years to get it and you can stream games from the cloud now too!"

-The day after Xbox says "Guess what who needs a strictly handheld streaming device because now we are allowing you to stream games you own via the cloud on any "Xbox" Device".

:banderas:

Again if the Portal released as it is currently I wouldn't have a problem with it.

Initially when it released it literally required you to stream from your active home PS5 console to play games otherwise it was completely useless and had ZERO other features including web portal wifi connecting.... it was hot trash.

Y'all still went and bought it :manny:

After the latest updates it's almost worth it if you didn't have to have PS premium on top of the device.

I wouldn't knock anyone that went out and purchased one now tho :yeshrug:

I didn’t even know they upgraded it.

Missed opportunity imo.

I think had they advertised it as a standalone cloud device from jump it would be lots more popular.

But what's interesting about this is we actually heard about this handheld some months ago from a couple sources specifically, so, we're not in the business of leaking things but it's interesting that this finally sort of started to make its rounds because it just sort of confirmed what we had seen and heard off the record about this existing which is cool. So to me this sort of just strengthens the notion that yea they're very much working on something.
This article (Bloomberg) makes it seem like it's even further out than I thought based on that so I'm not sure what where it's going, I think there's like prototype stuff out there possibly

Success of Portal:

Its handheld consoles haven't historically fared as well as its home offerings, and the CEOs wouldn't be drawn on whether there may be a new PlayStation Portable (PSP) in the future.

But Mr Nishino said the way players play games is changing, and pointed to its handheld PlayStation Portal - a cross between a controller and a screen - which he said has been "a huge success".

And while previously it exclusively allowed players to stream games from a PS5 they already own, that is about to change.

"Recently, we just announced a beta programme... allowing Cloud streaming directly to the handheld," he said.

"We're always exploring various options for how players can play games."
