I might have to fly to Seattle this Thursday to watch us play the Rams

if Carroll lets Russ throw as much as Jameis :wow:

Sidenote, I don’t think Waller from the Raiders is getting his just due. I have him on all of my fantasy teams so I’ve been keeping an eye on him and I’m going to go ahead and say he’s a top 3 TE, top 5 at the very least.

Waller definitely a stud, and with Carr being a bytch that's afraid to push it up field he's gonna rack up some stats

Look at the last 20 years or so and you really need a HOF QB to win and now those guys aren’t in the late rounds anymore. Those QB’s are projects who won’t have the time to show what they can do, not guys who were slept on.
I expected better from you than to repeat this same tired, cliched and ultimately wrong narrative.

not to mention the chicken and egg conundrum. eli manning will be in hof because of his team winning the superbowl, not the other way around. ben might not be in HoF if he has zero rings.

GMs cling to drafting QBs because thats their meal ticket even if team sucks, it gives imaginary hope to media and fanbase. if you dont draft a qb and dont have 'hope' and your team sucks you're fired. so of course GMs/coaches with no balls want to err on the safe side and keep their job. Because of how qb is perceived by sheep media and fans, its actually better for a GM to have a shytty team that never will win anything but with a 'promising' qb than a shytty team with no promising qb. This is what @FTBS refers to I believe, that winning as a whole is perceived as inferior to having a half-decent qb on your team.

QB is also the ONLY position where shyt you did before in a team sport somehow still means something. Corpses of Eli and Flacco starting because a long time ago their teams won the superbowl. Aint a single other position getting so much clit massaging for team successes that happened a decade ago. Frank Gore and Larry Fitz still playing not because they did something 15 years ago, but because they actually can do shyt in the league many others cannot do.

I'm not saying I agree with the QB or bust logic, but it makes the road tougher. To believe that a team can churn through QB's and be successful is basically saying the QB is no more important than a RB and we know that's not true. Look at all these teams out here who most in here feel can be really, really good... if they just had a better QB. Sure, a defense can be improved, the trenches can be upgraded and you need better skill players, but unlike QB's, you can find those positions outside of the first round and in free agency. A Baker Mayfield used to be a 3rd round pick. Now he's #1 overall. Pat Mahomes was the kind of QB teams would wait til day 2 to get and develop. Now teams trade up in the first to get him. You got teams throwing away seasons to get a QB who may or may not even be good enough to warrant that high of a selection 8 months later in comparison to the rest of the field. You don't wanna be caught with a team that's a QB away with no way of attaining it.

its actually better for a GM to have a shytty team that never will win anything but with a 'promising' qb than a shytty team with no promising qb.

Disagree. Fans don't have that kind of patience and you're only gonna get but so many cracks at landing that QB. It's like when a GM fires a coach. Usually a GM doesn't get to fire a second one because then the spotlight is on him for not getting the hire right. Look at my team for example. Mike Maccagnan picked Sam Darnold who at the moment is still the guy Jets fans pin their hopes and dreams on, but got fired a year later because he fukked everything else up. Now look at that team without Darnold. To give a QB basically 4 years to win a superbowl is harsh as all hell, especially when teams are out here tearing shyt down to the roots.

This is what @FTBS refers to I believe, that winning as a whole is perceived as inferior to having a half-decent qb on your team.
I disagree with this vehemently and I don't know what team he pays attention to. Admittedly, where I live, we don't care how you win a Superbowl, but do it already. Eventually we turn on any and every QB who ultimately doesn't get it done.

Eli still started because fans legitimately believed if they could fix the shyt around him, he could still win another one. He got benched one time and everyone wanted to riot. You weren't dealing with rational people in that instance. They didn't wanna start over. They were too busy tryna have ride off into the sunset a winner. (and in both Eli and Flacco's situations, they got replaced by QB's in the first round-- hell the Giants tried to do the draft a developmental QB route; the QB's just weren't any good. If they were, Eli woulda been replaced by Ryan Nassib years ago)

Why don't the Viking get trashed on more for getting Kirk Cousins instead of drafting Lamar Jackson? Or simply drafting Jackson as insurance.

They drafted Mike Hughes 2 picks before him..

They only signed Cousins 3 years anyway. Lol Baltimore eating with all their extra cap space.

Brady is an awful example considering he’s the ultimate outlier. That’s a once in a lifetime scenario, not a strategy to apply. There are GM’s and scouts who believe a QB should be taken every year. Those people are either A) unemployed because they don’t have anything to show for it or B) Bill Belichick because he’s gone nearly two decades without having to worry about his starter, which is why he’s able to do so well developing them.

Selling hope = drafting a QB because drafting your QB is almost always how you can win a Super Bowl. Winning requires more than that, but QB’s now don’t slip through the cracks the way they used to. Now teams tank for them. The last thing you want is a team ready to win a SB but you can’t because the QB you need isn’t attainable. Look at the last 20 years or so and you really need a HOF QB to win and now those guys aren’t in the late rounds anymore. Those QB’s are projects who won’t have the time to show what they can do, not guys who were slept on.

Yes look at the last 20 years where you have had young Brady, old Brady (yet somehow not prime playing or earning Brady though), old Manning, Joe Flacco, Eli twice, young Russ, Brad Johnson, Trent Dilfer, Nick fukking Foles, young, trying his best to throw the game away Ben winning the overwhelming majority of the SBs. We have yet to have one of these "bu...bu...but the market, gotta have a QB" contract QBs win a SB. So they don't even have an example of any quality to provide. What do any of those GMs have to show for that? If Beli and the Pats abided by this QB worship that you are espousing there is no Brady. We can't just throw that out because of how thoroughly it shyts on the whole QB worshipping argument. That was basically the equivalent of Stafford or Ryan getting hurt and then the team going on to be the GOAT squad for the next 20 years with Luke Falk or Tanner Lee at the helm. As ridiculous as that sounds, that is exactly what happened there. I know what you are gonna say..."You can't bank on that". This is true. I won't deny that. However, history has shown that you can't bank on having just having a QB, especially a bank breaking QB either but people have no problem sitting and waiting for that outlier to pop up at some point, one day, maybe in future, hopefully.

Brady missed a whole season and they still managed to go 11-5. He was suspended 4 games, the back up got hurt and they still went 3-1 a few years ago. Pats were constantly worried about having a back up for Brady. You got two former Pats backups, starting on other teams now. Jimmy G had the big bad "GOAT" so shook that he went over Beli's head to have him shipped out. Bottom line is, you win by having a thorough ass squad regardless of how good your QB is.

Simple. Because that was a team poised to win now and I don't think they were gonna entrust the immediate future on a rookie QB that people had doubts on. By the time Lamar Jackson woulda figured it out, they might have missed their window of opportunity. Also, if you spend $84 mil guaranteed on a QB, you don't draft a QB in round 1 for insurance. That's a waste either way. Have conviction one way or another. If you draft a QB in round 1 immediately after giving a QB that kind of money, maybe you shouldn't be picking players for my team.
