I agree with you.
People would point to the Sting sample, and Trackmasters didn't do Take it in Blood. People thought steel drums wee sellout shyt at one point, but I agree with you.

Does "The Message" sound like a pop song to you though? Keep it real.

I love Nas but can't agree with this at all. Illmatic is perfect production wise, and IWW has many dope beats alongside some repetitive ones. But I Am is halfway wack beat wise to me. Nastradamus...you already know. Stillmatic is solid. God's Son is about halfway ehhh beat wise. Street Disciple...nope. HHID and Untitled don't have a single beat I'd call great or want to hear live.

Life Is Good has Summer On Smash lmao but overall is ok production wise.

People forget that Hov rapped over lots of wack shyt in the mid/late 90s too but since Dynasty? It's no question he has the better eat by far.

Don't even go there breh. Because you've already admitted on here that you didn't even hear Illmatic until damn near a decade after the fact. :heh:

Which
a) is still earlier than the vast majority of posters on here.
b) I'm the realest poster on this board and I don't pretend. I straight up tell you when/if I have gaps in my knowledge of hip hop while still knowing way more than 99% of you.

Meanwhile, y'all pretend to be into Nas from day one, then be fukking up basic details and forgetting which producers did what :laff:

As I've said before, Nas showed up on the casual rap fan radar with IWW. I heard IWW within a year of when it dropped. And I was into shyt like "Gettin Jiggy With It" and "Men In Black" :scust:

The Message... you mean the track with the Sting/Police sample? Don't get me wrong, the track is dope but anything on Illmatic is better.

Take It In Blood is not Trackmasters.

Escobar 97... :comeon: That song's

Shootouts is one of the few highlights on IWW. Drums are weak compared to what we heard on Illmatic. Weak drums is a sure sign of that crossover move.

It's hard for y'all to know because honestly... y'all weren't around back then. As I said, the grit was gone on IWW.
:dwillhuh:
You heard Illmatic for the first time in 2002 and you're telling other posters they weren't around back then? :mjlol:

People need to stop overrating IWW.

It's like a tier 3 album.

And tbh I came to the realisation that the main reason that Nas is sometimes boring is largely down to beat selection, though his lacklustre delivery never helps.

Thank God he has a wicked pen game.

Not at all. I'm a huge IWW fan. 5 mics to me. Think if you are gonna attempt to soften up or go mainstream that IWW is the model of how to do it tastefully.

Don't tell posters they weren't around in 94 and 96 when you weren't.

I wasn't talking about just 96 though.
Regardless. I think it's one of the best produced albums. Looking at the total package it's one of the best produced and cinematic albums top to bottom. Classic and top tier beats, great skits that add to the story of the album, and great mixing and engineering crisp transitions from song to song.
