Affirmative Action is probably one of the best/recognizable rap instrumentals ever , and despite what purist say about Trackmasters they laced Nas with some stellar beats off the strength of their sample/loop selections , had two Hav beats in his prime , Premiere , LES etc.. and as a result sonically the album aged very well .. Do I really have to summarize or go into depth why son is buggin :comeon:

You've gotta be kidding me :what:

Most purist hated Trackmaster productions back then , which puzzles because alot of their mid 90s production was straight heatrock to me
Trackmasters have classics for days :wow:

Premier, Havoc, L.E.S., Live Squad was all on there too.
Street Dreams, Black Girl Lost and Watch Dem nikkas

Those are some decent ass beats
If you hate Street Dreams I take it you hate Pac's All Eyez On Me too given its the same sample flipped the same way but with different bassline. I prefer the remix but the original is dope too.

Black Girl Lost beat is perfect given the theme of the song and the fact it features Jodeci. Also, the skit is classic.

Watch Dem nikkas is heat :what:

Name 5 albums with indisputably better production from beats, skits, to mixing than IWW in '96 and albums with classic beats like If I Ruled The World and Affirmative Action which would become freestyle favorites over the years.

Name 4 since I know Hell On Earth is gonna be there :pachaha:
I wasn't talking about just 96 though.

Trackmasters were glossy, pop RnB bullshyt for the most part. Zero atmosphere and grit. Hip hop is grit.

Imagine someone serving you one of the grittiest, most beautiful albums ever for his debut then serving up some limp crossover stuff for the follow-up. You would be (rightfully) pissed.

This is bullshyt. How is "The Message," "Take It In Blood," "Escobar 97," "Suspect," "Shootouts," "Silent Murder," etc. pop R&B bullshyt? :camby:

I like all of those beats.
The only beat that really sounds goofy to me now is Affirmative Action, and I liked that one in 96. I love Nas is Coming. :yeshrug:

They played both sides of the fence though. They did Jiggy With it I think :scust:

Ill stand by that... AZ got some of Pete Rock's most underrated work

plus he introduced hip hop to some of the most seminal jazz/soul samples

I'm taking issue with "blowing out the water". I got no issue if you think DOD had better beats.

The Message... you mean the track with the Sting/Police sample? Don't get me wrong, the track is dope but anything on Illmatic is better.

Take It In Blood is not Trackmasters.

Escobar 97... :comeon: That song's

Shootouts is one of the few highlights on IWW. Drums are weak compared to what we heard on Illmatic. Weak drums is a sure sign of that crossover move.

It's hard for y'all to know because honestly... y'all weren't around back then. As I said, the grit was gone on IWW.

I agree with you.
People would point to the Sting sample, and Trackmasters didn't do Take it in Blood. People thought steel drums wee sellout shyt at one point, but I agree with you.

Don't even go there breh. Because you've already admitted on here that you didn't even hear Illmatic until damn near a decade after the fact. :heh:
