Nas proportion of great beats ain't that great

I rate Nas as the greatest living rapper but Jay had dope production on every album he has released

Ross ear for beats is crazy

Biggie's ear for beats was crazy

Drake's production has been stellar

Kanye has an unfair advantage in that he's a producer but he prob has the highest proportion of great production

why are you and others forgetting about the rare/unreleased Nas stuff as I've said for the 3rd time now? Nas's rare/unreleased stuff is vast as fukk. A fair number of great beats in there.

Ross's beats are :trash:

Drake has some great production but I wouldn't say his stuff is stellar in the hip hop sense. It's mostly hit-driven, commercial pop. Are you really bumping "Headlines" like "yo.... this is classic like a classic Wu song?" :comeon:

Kanye made some dope beats for others when he was on that soul sample tip. By and large, Ye's beats are :trash:

:comeon: Every song dude listed besides "Jigga That nikka" is a classic.
Exactly. Jigga That Nikka is one of those songs Hov will perform in a set and get the place jumping.

Those are all classic IMO and some of the most iconic cuts in some of the best MC's careers.
First half of the list is phenomenal. But the in support of the argument they are the GOATs?
I didn't say they were the G.O.A.T's, I said they are one of the greatest. They have the hits/classic songs, longevity, and have done a lot of production on classic albums, and their sound has aged well.

did you forget the part where I said rare/unreleased Nas stuff? :what:

Even a lot of that stuff has forgettable beats. Personally I wouldn't count it but that's just me.

Baffles my mind that a rapper who could literally work with anyone he wants wasted a decade hitting up Salaam Remi and no name producers for forgettable beats while Hov moved from one all star group of production to another. Just Blaze/Bink/Kanye during the Dynasty/Blueprint, then Just Blaze/Kanye/Rick Rubin/Timbo/Neptunes/Quik/9th Wonder on Black Album, then the Hitmen for American Gangster.

It's the most frustrating aspect of being a Nas stan. He never put together a production team or consistently worked with guys who were DYING to give him heat. Premo still had some bangers around the Untitled/HHID era. 9th Wonder been trying to work with him too. I don't get it man....

A lot of people's favorite rappers don't have songs this good. All these beats are fire.
