I really enjoyed the movie, but the handshake deal felt really out of place. If this wasn't based on a true story we'd all be calling it shytty writing. It makes me question how honest the rest of the movie was. I think it felt out of place because the rest of the movie painted Ray Kroc as a resilient determined businessman who was perfectly fine keeping the McDonald's as the big dogs. But they had a different, less lucrative vision for their business. As if had they been down to maximize their profits, Ray would have had no problem with all of them splitting the profits. To me that doesn't jive with the handshake move nor the move to open a McDonald's across the street from their new restaurant. Real life Ray seems way more cutthroat than the movie portrayed.

this movie just recofirmed the idea that only absolute pieces of shyt make significant money. almost everyone who has a networth of over $500 mil is probably a criminal in some way, or close to it. there are no morals in money. i don't have it in me to ever be super successful. i find the character trait of ultimate persistence, the "won't take no for an answer" both admirable and dispicable at the same time. i just don't have that in me, so i envy it a bit, but absolutely cannot stand people like that.

... they're laughing all the way to the bank though.

Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven
kroc was a piece of shyt.. yes he did some shyt.. but he could have done it without being a piece of shyt

he was opening up all these franchises.. while timid, the brothers allowed it. then he started doing the real estate stuff... didn't even tell them. changing recipes... didn't even tell them.. stole dudes wife while he himself was married.. scumbag.

then in an ultimate fukk you.. while being a billionaire off a stolen company. he LEAST he could do was give them 1% or some stock options or something. he gave them a handshake deal and reneged on that too

he was the ultimate piece of shyt

Yup. Even if you respect everything else there was absolutely no need for him to fukk them like that.

It's clear he was most likely a psychopath. Because the handshake deal + opening up a restaurant across the street from the original to run them under is psychopathic behaviour to a tee.

His obsession with being seen as the creator as well.

The highest concentration of psychopaths found in society is in CEO's.

I recommended it to someone last week. And I had a hard time trying to say anything about this movie without giving away the plot. All I could tell the guy was its about the 2 brothers who started McDonald's and another guy who's the main character. While you start off liking him you might not feel the same way at the end.

Thats how I felt anyway. I like how they flipped his character of being the guy you were rooting for in the beginning into a guy who was an absolute greedy scumbag by the end. You saw his ambition and drive which we all appreciate in someone but then he got to a point where most of thought he went too far and was too greedy. He deebo'd these guys company but they didn't reign him in soon enough. They should have squashed his shyt early on. They kept giving him inches and he kept taking yards. Then after all they witness him do to them and their name they went through with a handshake deal and thought he'd keep his word :mindblown:
Overall a very great movie.

Ray Kroc ended up being the piece of shyt in the end but the McDonald brothers should've renegotiated the deal. Kroc was setting up all those franchises in the Midwest and the only dudes that profited were the McDonald Brothers and the franchisees. He was going broke on the verge of losing his home. All were equal pos shyt early on imo but yeah Kroc was the biggest at the end of the movie. Flick was fire tho:whew:A lot of game dropped in this:lupe:

Before we start calling dude a jackass, in real life, the McDonald brothers got the equivalent of $21 million dollars in today's money ($2.7 million in 1961 = $21.928 million in 2017) from Kroc. In real life, neither of the brothers wanted to franchise and felt Kroc was moving far too fast for them. I havent watched the movie but, I've read the books. Those dudes didn't start another worthwhile business with the $21 million they received so that goes to show how much entrepreneurial drive they had. No different than the "Facebook founders" who got $60 million and never had another idea again.
But their invention of the fast food production model is monumental and groundbreaking. They would probably have to jump into a whole different business realm to make a similar effect or impact. There's only one Facebook, Coca Cola, Apple, etc.. These dudes invented McDonald's for gawds sake.

In hindsight, I can now feel better about that post. The Winklevoss brothers will probably end up billionaires now. They took their Facebook money and invested in Bitcoin when it was $9 a pop. Now their share is reportedly around $300 million. They got ripped off with Facebook but they're hustlers so they made another avenue pop off instead of bytching for the rest of their lives about Zuck ripping them off. I'm just asking why didn't the McDonald brothers take the $2 million which was equivalent to $20 something million today and start again. Hundreds of chain restaurants started between 1960 and 2017. They had so much more money than the average person. They could've easily made something else happen.

Loved this movie. Kroc was a piece of crap though and I like how the movie didn't hide that fact and clearly came down on the side of the McDonald's boys. But this was a great movie from start to finish. Keaton is that dude
its on netflix now im about to watch it

And I believe that's all they are right? Hustlers.. Came from a rich home. Far as I know they don't code. Facebook wasn't really their "baby". They made it a hot line but Zuckerburger made it a hot song. Facebook was a hustle they stumbled on just like how Bitcoin probably is. McDonalds was the McDonald brothers "bably" and life. They were ground up, visualized it, executed it, and made it happen. Once that bootleg M buger stand went under they probably didn't want to ever see a burger again in their lives. But I get what you're saying tho but I give them a pass because they came up with the "Apple" of burgers and fast food.

It's not always about that though. Ok, so they got 2.7, 1.35 a piece, lawyers and taxes gonna take..lets say 40%. They lost their baby. They probably didn't have that motivation to do it again, or energy. Not everyone wants to get into everything to keep flipping money. Some people birth an idea, nurture it and are content with it blossoming, and that be it. They were obviously comfortable in their own pace and setting and had it ripped from under them.

actually the bio says that got 1 mil each after taxes and fees. So they still lived good for their era.
