I love this movie. Resonates with me as an entrepreneur. I could feel Kroc (and Keaton) in saying how persistence will win out over everything else. I look at the cats my age and they are already on their way to a life of monotony. Meanwhile, I continue to pursue my passions which have me working in other countries for months if necessary.

Ray Kroc was 54 when he saw the potential of McDonald's. The brothers were creative, but ultimately they were not businessmen. And Nick Offerman and John Carroll Lynch were excellent as the bros. Not sure how this didn't get any acting noms from the major awards.

Jeremy Renner produces some interesting stuff.

Some good movies, for some reason or another, fall under the radar. See: Prisoners.

Why did they agree to the handshake deal. That's only part confusing the fukk outta me.

This. The rest of it I understand. I feel like they should have renegotiated the number or something but held firm on a royalty. It's their name!

Also, I didn't hate Kroc in this. He was just bout his business. It did seem like all his real problems (not being able to pay bills) got solved way too easy tho.

Just finished this...Kroc was an a$$hole. But at the same time it's hard to HATE him despite all the grimey shyt he did. And that's mainly because the brothers were so passive, I know cats like them in real life and that shyt can be irksome because they aren't living life to the fullest

Kroc was an a$$hole and seemed to be a psychopath. But that's how you get to the top in business. By having 0 morals.

It's funny how almost every big business has shady shyt in its history.

Movie was alright, good performances but nothing really that special.

Will never feel the need to watch this again. Just didn't have the talent behind it like say social network did

If I had the money I'd actually try and open/operate a burger joint that served up food in the exact manner as that very first McDs in Cali (in the movie) did, just to see how that gimmick would work in today's climate.

Ray seemed more crummy to me because ditched his original ride or die for the wife of a business partner. Not a good look in any form. But, while he kinda did do the brothers dirty, he had some admirable attributes as an entrepreneur. Movie is worth watching regardless of whether you funk with Mickey D's food or not.

The OG McDonalds is like 15 mins away from my house :dead:

I use to always see it when I'd get weed from the shops :dead:

Foul what happened to the brothers but, it is what it is.

They wanted to run one location whereas Ray wanted a nationwide operation and that's how he was able to crush them legally having more funds because of his strategy vs. theirs.

What I don't understand is why they never picked up and started again. Why not start another fast food operation or a sit down family restaurant chain? They had tons of money to start over with.

They left it to the employees and Kroc was a piece of shyt and opened a mcdonalds across the street to put them out of business.
