Pretty good movie. Ray was a scum bag but he definitely revolutionized the fast food industry.

I bet McDonalds back then tasted amazing. Now it can be barely called food. :scustscust:

Haven't eaten at McDonalds in over 3 years. :manny: Chickfila though. :ohlawd: (only occasionally :whoa:)

I heard about him in the book Fast Food Nation
Y'all need to read it, pretty good book on the fast food industry and it will definitely open your eyes and hopefully change the way you eat and check the documentary out as well.

If you think you're lonely now, ohhh girl...
Can you imagine being finessed so thoroughly that you can't even use your own damn name? :wow:

The one brother that said they let a wolf in the hen house was exactly right; but, it was already too late by then.

Then you agree to a "handshake" deal with a dude that just stole your damn name. fukk you thought was going to happen? shyt is crazy.

Before we start calling dude a jackass, in real life, the McDonald brothers got the equivalent of $21 million dollars in today's money ($2.7 million in 1961 = $21.928 million in 2017) from Kroc. In real life, neither of the brothers wanted to franchise and felt Kroc was moving far too fast for them. I havent watched the movie but, I've read the books. Those dudes didn't start another worthwhile business with the $21 million they received so that goes to show how much entrepreneurial drive they had. No different than the "Facebook founders" who got $60 million and never had another idea again.

It's not always about that though. Ok, so they got 2.7, 1.35 a piece, lawyers and taxes gonna take..lets say 40%. They lost their baby. They probably didn't have that motivation to do it again, or energy. Not everyone wants to get into everything to keep flipping money. Some people birth an idea, nurture it and are content with it blossoming, and that be it. They were obviously comfortable in their own pace and setting and had it ripped from under them.

I've seen the film. I get your point of view (I do) but I'm tired of feeling bad for the little guy just because. At the end of the movie, Kroc and McDonald were talking in the bathroom and dude was like are you willing to be a killer and dude was like "No". Kroc was willing to do whatever and they werent. They would've never made it. That $27 million he brought them out with, he was able to do that because he scaled McDonalds into multiple restaurants. Had like 100 of them in a few years. The brothers didn't want to expand. They would've been running that 1 hamburger stand forever if Kroc never came in. They would've never touched anywhere near $27 million. All I see in the movie is Kroc (who was a bit shiesty) being focused on growing as fast as possible and having the focus to do it and the brothers being too scared, too slow and too indecisive to make big moves. Even with your calculations, that's like $7 million a piece for each brother. They could've easily moved to a new town and started up a new restaurant much richer and much smarter and wiser than they were before. But they didn't.
