Thread full of non New Yorkers claiming hip hop started where they're from

Latinos claiming hip hop roots is bogus but not much more bogus than the rest of America trying to take credit for it claiming it's "southern/jazz" roots as opposed to just giving NY props for creating the most influential shyt ever

It is even more bogus for anyone in the Americas to be claiming Rap music at all. Like many of the other popular musics that people attribute to the Americas; Rap seems to have its roots in the Griots/musicians from the Kingdom of Mali.

Blue music and its offshoots (Country, Rock and Roll, Gospel etc) also has roots in that area.

The southern jazz-blues-gospel connection is real

Latina Magazine made a list of things that are wrong about the Tv Show Empire

Thank god Hip-Hop left NY. Those NY black folks let these people get too bold. Rap for the last 12-13 years has been in The Dirty South. So they haven't had shyt to do with this genre for the longest. Afro Latinos going in on them in the comments section too.
The south doesn't produce rap. Rap is comprehensible.

5 REASONS WE CONSIDER DRAKE AN HONORARY LATINO
BY CRISTINA ARREOLA • MARCH 10, 2015 • 1:01PM
Them Spanish girls love Drake like he's Aventura — with good reason. The biracial, Jewish, Canadian rapper may not be Latino, but that hasn't stopped him from openly expressing his love for all things Latina. In fact, his recent Instagram tributes to Selena Quintanilla prove this rapper knows a thing or two about our icons. To that, we say: HYFR.

Find out why we crowned Drake an honorary Latino:
