I saw this topic related article on Latinos and hip hop

I'll just leave this here.

Hip hop's Latino roots and pioneers

This propanganda aside, Latinos have less to do with the roots and pioneering of hip hop than cacs. The fact we see next to no Latino rap or hip hop artists is proof. Fat Joe had next to nothing to do with the origins of hip hop. Vanilla Ice is more relevant in hip hop history than Fat fukking Joe. fukk outta here.

The main fact that gets left out is that people claim Herc brought toasting to the Bronx and that's how rapping started but the truth is

1. Herc has never made this claim...he actually credits his boy, an Afram, Coke La Rock as the first MC and Melle Mel as the first modern rapper. There are countless interviews dating back the 80's where many of the early pioneers clearly state that Herc didn't do any rapping on the mic. Grandmaster Caz in one of his most recent interviews

a. There were no rappers in the modern sense in the Kool Herc scene inn the early days HipHop

b. Coke La Rock was the one talking on the mic not Herc and neither of them rapped in the modern sense. He did shout outs/freelance talking

c. Dj Hollywood was the only one rapping in the modern sense back then

"Dj Hollywood was the blueprint for the syncopated style"

:sas2:

2. What Jamaicans actually call toasting was lifted from Afram oral traditions

They've started putting Latinos on the show. There's a female girl group that have played a big role this season and last episode had Pitbull.

Yet in latin America they wont acknowledge that Black people even exist. Always pandering:snoop:
What difference would it make it they didn't feature any Latinos? Would Latinos not watch the show if they dont see any Latinos? :mjpls:

Thread full of non New Yorkers claiming hip hop started where they're from

Latinos claiming hip hop roots is bogus but not much more bogus than the rest of America trying to take credit for it claiming it's "southern/jazz" roots as opposed to just giving NY props for creating the most influential shyt ever
