My grandma usually washed greens in a large basin. She did say her mom's side of the family washed theirs in a tub. But, her mom cut with that tradition.

And that is how my great grandma, grandma, mom, and my wife prepare greens. Clean them with vinegar, a bunch of washing, bacon, garlic, chicken broth, etc...

She's actually telling the truth. Seasoning is subjective, but the process is correct. And if you're cooking greens for a party, you may have to use the tub. Old folks used to do this back in the day.

Just found out from my wife that the nasty washing greens in the tub phenomena is prevalent around here in Hampton Roads. We both are transients and don't cotton to that sort of nastiness in food preparation.

Washing food in the same place you wash your ass, is an abomination.
