I cop jean graes music but she has no promotion. How are people supposed to know the albums/ep's are out? Only reason I know is when the booth makes a thread about a new jean grae song or project
Yup. First time I'm hearing of this.

Also, just gotta be honest. The whole "Why aren't people buying my albums thing" was goofy when Ghostface said it in 2008 to his Myspace fans when Big Doe Rehab dropped. At this point it's 2015. People need to ether adapt or die. Asking "why are you guys streaming my music but not buying it" is like getting mad at the sun for setting every day. That's just how things are now. It's not how it used to be.

It's really hard to have sympathy, even for an artist that I like, if they just don't understand how the world works at this point. If your albums are on BANDCAMP and you're complaining about people not buying them, you lost a long time ago. For people that do buy music online, I'm just curious how many people of THAT small part of the pie are doing it on Bandcamp? It's a great way to support artists, but most people buy digital music from iTunes or maybe Amazon.

I fukk with Jean Grae too. I definitely don't want her to pack up and leave the game.

Every time I hear her interviewed she's trying to separate herself from being Black and from Black issues....She comes off as one of them Raven Simone types...

She put out dope material years ago, her stuff that she did w/ Herbalizer still gets regular rotation from me.

That "Adult" album was just weird though. I'm all for creative material and people expanding, but that was just too much on a tangent.

Music isn't enough in 2015. Yea that sucks but people move from one act to another with little loyalty. Especially in the underground. Think about all the work Talib Kweli and 9th Wonder have put in yet can't really get people to support their labels. That shyt must be depressing as fukk. But ultimately all you can do is put yourself out there and try.

Selling music shouldn't be a focus IMO. I'd rather sell tickets to shows, and sell my music or merch at the show. Look at what Run The Jewels is doing. Perfectly crafted package (art work, merch, etc) that they can sell to kids. Czarface did the same thing. MF DOOM has done that. You have to catch people's attention...

She's South African "coloured"...and her parents probably put some shyt in her head before she got to NY that took root. She grew up kinda privileged.
