lol Cut it out. She's been on Sway before and every outlet I have named has had lesser known artist up there, don't give me that. Damn near anyone can go to this is 50, they had the "I'm Tryone and I'm here to fukk this guys wife" guy up there.
Don't sit up here and act like she isn't a legend who hasn't been in the game twenty years, that can't promote her stuff in her own city because of radio politics.
What qualifies a female emcee as a "legend"? I was just wondering about that aloud in the "ghostwritten verses" thread.

She really dropped the ball with that album with 9th Wonder. It leaked in 2004 during her peak popularity (signed to Babygrande) and Justus League's creative peak, and she waited until 4 years later to release it when that whole wave of underground rap was coming to an end with minimal changes to it IIRC.
Since then, she's put out poorly promoted albums every coulple of years of varying quality.....sorry shawty, a lot of your failure is on you.

That radio politics is real. But i named the major stations, not Sway. Sway is big but his hands are free cuz he on Sirius. Huge difference.
and besides, and anyone who knows me will tell you I love Jeannie on some borderline stalkerish shyt, but she makes music 1/4 for money and 3/4 cause she wants to.

Jean Grae is one of the most talented rappers of the past decade or so but she has two problems though. She seems not to take her work all that seriously anymore. She hasn't put out anything inspiring since maybe '08 and she has been blessed with better beats than most. Also she needs to do her own marketing. Every other underground rapper does this, except for her, I been saying for a while that she lacks passion. I know local rappers who don't sell shyt but still do shows and make a living.

Rappers gotta figure out new ways to promote. You can't just throw a Bandcamp link up and expect nikkas to cop. You gotta make people interested.

This x 1000. What the hell happened to her?? She was my favorite female MC for the time she was out. Heather B just barely nudges her out of that top spot overall for me. Its like she disappeared after the first Polyrythm Addicts album and popping up on Pharoah's first album.
