Kidd top 5 PG to me. 3 Finals and a chip. Def higher on the list than Gnash. :yeshrug:
He is absolutely not.

Nash was on a higher level than Kidd at their best. Nash ran elite offenses and was a savage in the half court. Nash was a better shooter and finisher at the rim and got some limited offensive players paid.

I’m not disrespecting Kidd, but you are by saying Nash was worse than him.

Regular season don't impress me. Nash has failed MULTIPLE times with VERY good teams in BOTH Dallas and Phoenix.

Kidd over Nash EASILY for me.

That said, I think a lot of fans are prisoners of the time. Jason Kidd played at perhaps the last era where a point guard could just focus on assists and do almost nothing else....and still be regarded as good. It's like the defense-only Shortstop in baseball. The Omar Vizquel of the NBA.
I agree with you to a point. If Kidd’s offenses were as efficient as his accolades, I would say no doubt. Like Vizquel and Ozzie Smith actually improved teams defenses despite being sub 280 hitters. Kidd wasn’t a great half court player.

Nash has better postseason numbers than Kidd too. :heh:

What you are impressed by is Kidd going to the finals in one of the worst conferences in NBA history, while Nash played in a conference with two competing dynastys and like three other top 25 all time players.

Results matter more to me. 3 Finals appearances and a chip > 0. Nash is top 10, but overrated. Couldnt' get the job done in the playoffs. To not sniff ONE Finals appearance is underachieving. Not top 5.

You guys don't watch Basketball. Those early Dallas Teams were TERRIBLE. Dallas was a poorly ran Organization that botched all the Top Talents they had at that time. Anyway...

Jason Kidd goes to the Nets, one of the Youngest and Inexperienced teams in the NBA, and leads them to the Finals his first Two Seasons (Runs into Shaq & Kobe and then Duncan & Robinson). You need to know the Nets had ZERO Championship aspirations by the Media when NJ got him. Of course things changed. They had no answer to slowing down Shaq at all, but against the Spurs, the Nets were up by 8 in the 4th Quarter of Game 6, could've forced a Game 7 had they made better Defensive Coaching Decisions.
It seems you don't watch hoops either.

All this revisionist verbiage is making out like Kidd led those Nets teams against all odds to the Finals, when the truth is, the East was so bad back then that those teams wouldn't even get out the 1st round in the West. The early 2000s East was straight low-grade ass offense that the Nets only managed to come out the other side because of how good their defense was (which was also in part due to how bad offense was in their conference).

There's a reason why he didn't do a cotdamn thing in the West (for the first seven years of his career) before moving out East.

As a Nets fan, I can say I was always underwhelmed with what we had with Kidd, same thing with Vince later on. That said, you can list off multiple players that are overrated before you get to Kidd.

Which teams did Kidd play on loaded with offensive talent around him? For instance Nash during his best stretch went from a team with Dirk, Finley, Antwan Jamison, Antoine Walker, Nick Van Exel to the Suns with Amare, Marion, Joe Johnson, Quentin Richardson, and Diaw.
Nash’s last season in Phoenix:

That roster was top 10 in offense.

All things equal, he's the most overrated player of the last 30 years. The Seum has a hard time putting his ability in its rightful context, for whatever reason.

The minute the east got slightly better the “winning” all stopped :heh:

OP isn't entirely wrong. Being a 10x all-star at the time when the PG spot was nowhere neeaarrr as talented as it is now isn't THAT big of a deal.
Chauncey Billups DEADED Jason Kidd in 2004. He could do nothing vs detroit. 0pts, 0-8, 2TO, 42min in a game 7 LOSS

Game 2 he gave up 28pts to billups, while shooting 24%, 4 turnovers

He averaged 28% in a 7 game series with 23 turnovers. Billups ended his career as a #1 guy.

Every time I see Kidd discussions I think about that detail from his divorce proceedings or whatever…. That AI lit him up for 50 and when he came home his wife was rockin an Iverson jersey out of spite.

:mjlol::mjlol::mjlol:

nikka was such a pure PG he had a son with a basketball head. That’s dedication to craft.
