.)Dude had no J, couldn’t score, and was terrible at finishing at the rim. They used to call him Ason for a reason.
.) Led mediocre to terrible offenses throughout his career. A HOF guard who dominates the hall leading the 17th ranked offense in ORTG is not a good look at all. But again when your best player has essentially no halfcourt game this is what happens.
.)Did nothing in the west as a franchise player for 7 years aside from 2000. The only reason they made it out of round 1 was because Tim Duncan was hurt. The next round versus a real healthy team they got smacked.
.)He gets traded to the nets in a historically poor conference and they manage to make 2 nba finals(where they get waxed by real teams) and a conference semi final in 2004. It should be noted that in that series he had one of the worst performances by a star ever including an all time game 7 where he had zero plints
.)He continues to lead horrible offenses year in year out despite trading for prime Vince Carter and is eventually traded to the Mavs in 2008. He is a disaster on both sides of the ball in playoffs(with his HOF defense being exposed) for 3 years.
.)Finally in 2011 he wins a title as a spot up shooter and like 4th option on a Mavs team which Dirk has an all time carry job.
So we have a guy who couldn’t shoot until later in his career where he was able to knock down wide open 3’s as the 4th option, who couldn’t score, led trash offenses year in and year out, whose reputation as a “winner” is largely backed on a 2 year run in the worst conference ever and winning as a role player under Dirk. Oh and his HOF defense got exposed several times in the playoffs by elite guards
