There is a massive ppg bias on the coli when it comes to modern players. (Which, of course, completely disappears when they're talking about pre-1990 legends because they only repeat what they're told to think on those guys anyway.)
What the fukk does this have to do with the thread?

The fact that he was such an inefficient and limited scorer despite playing post-1990 shows just how overrated he is. Nobody is saying he's a bum. The problem with this board is y'all seem to conflate overrated = bad. That's not what overrated means.

When you've got cats saying he was doing what Jokic is doing now at the PG position that means he's being overrated. When you've got cats saying the Spurs would've won five straight titles with him that means he's being overrated. When you've got cats saying he's at least the second-best passer ever that means he's being overrated.

He's heralded as one of the GOAT PGs because of his ability to make his team and teammates better, but he couldn't even run a high-level offense during a period where offensive basketball was at one of its lowest points. He struggled mightily to score in the half court, he was destroyed in the playoffs by the likes of Avery Johnson (who was a league-average guard), he wasn't even treated as an offensive threat during his day - the list goes on.

He took those Nets teans to back to back Finals? He was the best pg in basketball during that period.
Why do y'all keep trying to make this a talking point?

The East was trash back then. The best team in the East would've been lucky to even make the playoffs in the West, let alone win a series. There's a reason why he didn't make it out of the 1st round when he was in the West for the first seven years of his career, regularly outplayed by the opposing PG in nearly every series.

How do you think he managed to make the Finals in the East when he couldn't even make it out of the 1st round in the West for years?

Dudes dissing Kidd aren't sports fans so they move the goalposts. 3 Finals runs as the starting point guard, one ring as a complementary player + elite passing and defense for most of his career.
Again, if these were real sports fans thread wouldn't have been made.
Hilarious

This post is pot calling the kettle black.

He wrote this stupid shyt in the Stockton/Malone thread:
Guys are jumping the gun here. Perhaps forgetting that the Jazz were an expansion team that relocated to that city. Small market metro area with no other pro sports teams. That duo solidified that franchise.

The pressure to move players and coaches comes from local beat writers and sports columnists, radio, and tv.
No matter how much those voices made noise, that city and state LOVED Malone and Stockton, and the die hard hoops fans among them knew that the chance of finding comparable players to replace them, or the chance of recruiting top players to One Horse Town metro areas were slim to none.

Have to think about the scenario being discussed and answer according to what the REALITIES were. Can't just repeat ESPN shyt.

He was never the best PG in basketball. Saying he took the Nets to the Finals in the weak East doesn't tell us about his INDIVIDUAL run.

Just tell me a single playoff run where Jason Kidd dominated. That's all. Every single All Time Point Guard has at least 1 year of playoff performances or a series where they light everything in front of them on fire. This thread is 3 days old and no one has even put up a box scores, mentioned a memorable series, or even a simple "remember when Jason Kidd..." statement.

All we got is nikkas creating hypotheticals and posting Youtube passing highlights.

Point proven. OP is right.

What do you consider "light everything in front of them on fire?" Kidd wasn't huge scorer so you're not going to find a series where he just light everybody up. But he did step his game up in the playoffs.

In 2002 he averaged 15ppg in the regular season and bumped that up to 20ppg in the playoffs. In the first round they went 5 games (this was in the Best of 5 1st RD era), and in the deciding Game 5 he put up 31 pts. He scored 12 of the teams 17 pts in the 4th qtr and averaged 22ppg for the series.

In the 2002 ECF he averaged a triple double and got his squad into the Finals.

2003 again his scoring went up again in the playoffs. He put up 20+ppg in both of the Finals. Y'all making it seem like he didnt elevate his game in the offs during his Finals runs.

Yall really act like he didnt have some great playoff games. Just because he didnt have the gaudy scoring numbers all the team doesn't mean he wasn't doing damage.

in the 2002 ECF's the Nets were down 2-1 and won 3 straight games with Kidd leading the way

game winner in 03 ecf
