cot damn this thread brings back some great memories of Hip Hop. I am 32 so maybe I am a little bias but to me the best era of Hip Hop was this era. From 96 to like 2005.
Is LL Cool J vs Canibus the dumbest start to a beef in rap history?

But LL was still less than a decade removed from his beefs with Kool Moe B, Mama Said Knock you out, he wasn’t fukking around with any sort of slights, that’s how hip-hop was. Part of it involved interpreting and exaggerating things other people said out of proportion. How many rap beefs are started for essentially no reason. KRS ended MC Shan’s career for allegedly sayin hip-hop started in a Queens, but Shan never claimed that.

LL didn't want the beef. He was willing to help Canibus develop his career.
Canibus let the "streets" influence him too much. Even though the original record was floating around, LL getting on songs with him would've deaded the whole thing.
LL ended up benefiting more
