This phone call is high level comedy though... LL sonning this nikka the whole time, by the end I damn near thought he was bought to send canibus to the corner store to grab some chips and juice and tell him to keep the change

Lots of MCs put in 50 bars on tracks, they just get cut out. Cap in Winter Warz? Actually, RZA is known for chopping down Wu verses. Kurupt was notorious for doing that. Pun, Black Thought, early Snoop. He was young and didn't know about song structure, so he would just go in booth and spit an entire clip. That's what made collabos great back then.
As for the cypher, he reserved the right to go anchor because he was gonna spit his 2nd Rd KO verse. Even if he went first, no one was gonna spit after that anyway.
And the whole beef was because LL did some sucker ish and still kept a verse that everyone assumed was going at Canibus, even before the story came out.

Snoop Dogg was the same way, but he eventually learned how to actually make records.
I dont think Canibus ever braced that part of being a rapper. I think if he could've gotten away with releasing mixtapes as actual albums, he would've.
Honestly, he was lucky to even be on 4,3,2,1. He wasn't connected with nobody on the song, he wasn't an established artist, so he had no authority to try and flex. He should've played his position properly.

- This battle didn’t hurt Canibus career. In fact it helped him. He went head up with a rap legend and stood his ground. Great publicity.
- Canibus career ended because his album was WACK. Got nothing to do with blackballing or anything like that. If you have that much buzz and then put out a dud you’re career is instantly in jeopardy. One thing most big name rappers have in common is a very good if not classic first album.
