LL, Rakim, and 2Pac are the most importantly rappers of all time.

LL was the first one that was seen that could be a superstar and a sex symbol.

Rakim was the first one to bring real rhyming to rap

And Pac was the one who got the image and controversy to sell.
pretend like the Message didnt exist brehs.

and Radio by LL was very lyrical. especially the song Dangerous

More important than Run-DMC? Rakim? Big? or Jay-Z? :jbhmm:

EDIT: So LL saying that all these rappers are his sons and daughters. :ehh:
Definitely more important than Big. Run DMC have the best argument, but LL’s overall influence was greater. Rakim is a good argument but I’d lean LL. Jay Z is up there too but it’s a little different type of influence. I’d still lean LL.

Outside of the founding fathers, Pac, Rakim, Dre, Run DMC, Jay Z, Nas, Cube all are guys who could be in the discussion to varying degrees and arguments. I’d personally have LL as the one though. Some other rappers would be in there for sure though.

LL is the prototype typical def jam mc. Album making, features with anyone, singles and versatile sound of street and pop.

They used his model on many rappers after him (meth, 50, drake) as well as everyone taking a piece.
