I don't think Wyclef had that sort of iron clad Puff Daddy to the Lox type rule over Canibus cause Wyclef wasn't involved with his second album at all. Wyclef guided him in a direction that didn't work out and Canibus blamed him for it. When Canibus went out on his own it still never lead him to the success he seemed to be destined for when he was doing all those guest spots. It probably wasn't Wyclef's fault to tell you the truth. Canibus wasn't that interesting an artist outside his ability to spit a hot verse as a guest on a track.

LL didn't want the beef. He was willing to help Canibus develop his career.

Canibus let the "streets" influence him too much. Even though the original record was floating around, LL getting on songs with him would've deaded the whole thing.

as far as canibus vs. cool j i always thought that canibus took that battle easily. i'm way more of an uncle L fan but never thought ripper strikes back was as good as folks made it out to be. 2nd round KO was the truth and killed LL


come to think of it the start of krs vs mc shan was kind of dumb too. obviously shan wasn't saying hip hop started in queensbridge when you listen to the record. it was all about the history of queensbridge hip hop only. but kris ran with it and capitalized. delivered back to back classic records that punished shan and the juice crew. great times

Wyclef did more to hurt Canibus career then LL

I don't think it was a bad album at all. It was dope.

I think the 2nd album tried to overcompensate with over top hard beats, but it just didn't sound good.

The craziest shiit to me is that all the amazing producers that never worked with Canibus from that time period till now...........like I can't believe how the curse/blackballing by LL really prevented him from having top notch production.
