Is Kevin Hart as big of a star as Eddie Murphy was in the 80's?

Insignificant posting from an insignificant poster

i just saw this for the first time tonight

The bullshiit part about that whole debacle is that the academy didn't even recognize Eddie's classic COMING TO AMERICA at the 61st Academy Awards.

Didn't acknowledge it no bit... wasn't nominated for anything.

I had the privilege to have viewed it in theaters in 1988 and it being one of the greatest movies i've ever seen (saw it with the entire family, momma, god rest your soul).

once all these baby boomers in the academy start dying off... then hopefully one day we can get a real cabinet of true, objective and culturally sound group of Academy members.

Until then... its just gonna be these old jews vying for movies with horses, adultery and merryl streep.

That'll never happen. But on the real, I see a couple people up in arms about Straight Outta Compton getting no acknowledgement but to me Beasts of No Nation getting snubbed is fukking disgusting.

Mad Max got in though. If they didn't do it back then, they'll never do it.

Facts, facts, facts. Beasts of No Nation being basically ignored is where it just becomes blatant prejudice. Idris literally TRANSFORMED into another person, was incredible. Duke never missed a beat with that accent too.

Once you saw it was produced by Netflix, should have known what slick game those jews was gonna pull.

"Not a real movie, just a lil indie thing".

Hell no.

He's not up there with Dave Chappelle either.

They just keep putting this dude in a lot of movies. I notice how it's a "One at a time" thing though and multiple black actors/comedians aren't being pushed as hard and for sure not at the same time another black actor is being pushed.

Eddies stand up became the blue print for modern young black comedians..they all modelled after raw and delirious. Sure there's Pryor but Eddie set the tone and standard for the new age.
And yes, coming to America to me is the funniest movie ever with so many hidden gems and truths it's shocking. It doesn't get old..
I don't care to even talk about Kevin. I'd go see Ride Along but he puts me off.
