Is Kevin Hart as big of a star as Eddie Murphy was in the 80's?

Above the fray.
Absolutely not.

True superstardom is when EVERYBODY knows who you are, even people who don't speak your language.

Eddie was such a big star that newly arrived immigrants knew who he was. He joked about that in Raw "Hey, I know you, Mr fukk YOU Man"

Eddie was an international superstar, with classic hits that were hits overseas. Coming to America is called "The Prince in New York" in other countries and was a blockbuster over there, too. Beverly Hills Cop,etc
Stop playing.

I was listening to Neal Brennan on TBC and he stated why Kevin does the type of movies he does and explained why Eddie usually does the movies he does. Apparently Eddie makes way more doing a Dr. Dolittle 6 than doing a Dreamgirls.

He also stated that Kevin likes doing movies he knows will be heavy promoted overseas.

Oh yeah the financial incentives make sense. With Eddie though, we know he's capable of displaying serious acting chops so he will have a wider variety of roles available to him.

Kevin seems to play some variation of the same character in each flick: reasonably successful sidekick friend that's sorta cool/sorta dorky. Always seems to be the sidekick even in his own movies.

Of course I feel like just about every Kevin movie makes $$$$ whereas Eddie has had some ups and downs at the box office. Kevin has a better sense of what will consistently sell at the box office.

I don’t think Hart has a better sense. Eddie just does what he wants.

Eddie - Beverly Hills Cop, Trading Places, 48 Hours, Coming To America, Delirious, Raw, Saturday Night Live - All legendary performances.

Kevin - ?

This is not even an appropriate debate.
