Marx's family had converted to Christianity before he was ever born but is generally regarded as non-religious, Marx himself married a Christian in a Protestant Church but rejected supernatural beliefs and was non-religious, and pretty much the ONLY work in which Marx ever address Judaism, "On the Jewish Question", is regarded by most historians as borderline anti-semitic. He wasn't Jewish, he didn't identify with Jews, he grew up influenced by and associating with socialists (whose entire philosophy is radically opposed to the interest-seeking and wealth concentration that fueled Jewish banking power), and his children became socialist activists themselves.
Marx's entire career is a legacy of very clear and powerful ideological positions, most of them novel, that are universally seen as making him one of the greatest intellectuals of the 19th century solely on strength of thought and influence even to those who disagree with everything he says.

Jews in Portugal had come from immigration from the Middle East and North Africa, where there had been travel to and from the Iberian peninsula for 1500 years before the Portuguese ever went to sub-saharan Africa. That's why Moroccan Jews are relevant, not some colonies that didn't even exist.
