There is a large majority of mostly white and white-identifying republicans and Republicans in the party that claims Dems wanna “take away our guns” and are against major gun reforms.

Kamala are just signaling to those special kind of voters (especially in whatever backwoods area she’s campaigning at) that she is pro-gun ownership and as a gun owner herself, she will not do anything that would jeopardize gun owners rights to be armed.
