I'm pro gun safety, and pro sensible measures to prevent mass shootings. But that doesn't mean i'm on board with taking away everyone's guns.

I don't think you can stop mass shootings. You will just delay mass shootings. If someone wants a gun, they gonna get a gun. ATF only works to control guns in black hands. But that's just me.

Doesn't mean nothing should be done about it. Anytime somebody tries to come up with solution there is pushback.
No calls for an alternative idea, just a complete stonewalling of any efforts. Imo guns shouldn't be regulated less than drivers licenses are. I have to take a written exam, a practical driving test, purchase insurance for each vehicle, and renew the license every few years. That would be a sensible starting point imo.

Also delaying mass shootings is at least better than expediting them. them kids get to live a bit longer,

Certain things actually might happen less. If everybody is required to get gun training and keep it up. That could potentially reduce the amount of stray gunfire hitting innocent bystanders in gun fights. Also would encourage a discipline and confidence for people to not be so quick to pull a gun in any situation. When you are confident in your ability to protect and defend yourself, you are often less of a hot head.

Also requiring the license, insurance and renewals, might discourage several things, 1) people might be less careless with a gun that is continually costing them money and not just leave it out for anyone to steal (including their kids. 2) might discourage people buying huge arsenals of guns which by their sheer volume also increases the likelihood of more guns ending up in the wrong hands. Overall people would be forced to be more responsible to get the most out of their investment.

Thing like this would serve to reduce gun crime.
