New York City. I mean Kansas.
You need squats of some variety for strong hips, legs and glutes especially. You don’t have to repping 4 plates or anything, and it’s doesn’t even have to be back squats. There are numerous options.

But don’t listen to anyone who says cardio is enough unless it’s high intensity hill sprinting or pushing a sled.
i tell you what, you know how i know my legs weak? i bought a stationary bike off amazon. the reviews said the highest resistance isn't very hard. i could barely pedal with the highest resistance :merchant:

i knew something was off

What happened to you breh?

not sure. some strange shyt. was network engineer, company got bought out, had to take another position. was workin on job sites workin on knees and bending and shyt, too old for that, got plantar faciitis, once it go better got inflammation in back that compressed my nerves. had a million tests, for auto-immune shyt too like Lupus. just weird rare condition that diabetics get. cause me to lose 70lbs in a matter of about 4 months. really severe atrophy. went from running with my dog every morning to lying in bed 20 hours a day. I was still going to the gym and working out as I felt my strength decreasing, was nothing I could do, just got weaker and weaker. all below the waist though. upper body lost fat, was cut as hell but lower body lost tremendous amount of muscle. havent worked since 2017. waiting on disability but by the time they give it to me, I will be back to working strength. just an example, in reference to squats, I lost the ability to crouch. could not get up out of a chair without assistance. progress everyday though. went from not being able to stand up on my own from 24" height to about 13" now. gaining strength back in my thighs is critical and one of my knees lost all the muscle. at one point couldnt kick leg out. much better now, but still not able to run.

Wow breh.... that's insane

Especially when you dont really know what the issue is.

I'm glad you're getting better. Do doctors have any idea of your recovery time?

Speaking of squats, am I the only nikka that doesn't like women with squat booty's? They just aren't the same. I need that jiggle, real nikkas know what I mean :ohlawd:

I honestly feel more of a burn doing lunges. Ever since I hurt my back a few years ago (not from squats), I've been hesitant to go too heavy on the squats. Same with dead lifts.

OP, there really isn't a reason not to squat if you are physically capable of doing it. Brb working your whole body with one exercise. :banderas:

Squatting is not inherently bad for your knees, back, or anything esle. Squatting with bad form or with weight you cannot lift with good form is bad. (This applies to all exercises, not just squats.)

As for going heavy or not, nah, you don't need to be repping heavy weight (405+), especially if you don't plan on competing, but you should be lifting sufficiently heavy weights and using progressive overload to add reps, sets, or more weight over time. (This applies to all exercises, not just squats.)

I can't count how many motherfukkers I see in the gym that are afraid to load more than 225 lbs and squat to depth but then wonder why they on some DYEL or weak fukk-boy status. :wtf: How is your body gonna handle heavy weights when you can't eem lift the light ones right? Strength is a skill, the more you practice it the better you get at it.
